Screws
O.K. So as you noticed screws have different screw heads and screw drivers also have different screw bits to fit accordingly. So does anyone on this forum know why there are different screw heads like + or - etc. LIKE WHY DO THEY NEED DIFFERENT SHAPES?!!?

Re: Screws
We need them because the flat screws if put into plastic conduit could tear the insualtion of wires. If that happens there will be a fault in the circuit, in worst case scenario you could have an electric fire. Those flat screws require anyone of those screwdrivers depending on the design of the screw. Then there are domehead screws, which come with designs for both screwdrivers. But yeah as DA said that's pretty much it, although you could use the flathead on the philips screws if the screwdriver fits into the slot.

Re: Screws
...Are you kidding? It's because different heads on screws serve different purposes. A Phillip's head is stronger and easier to screw in and out (it's the torque on a driver). Certain other kinds besides flathead and Phillip's head are designed more like a nut than screw. Then there are specialty ones which can screw in but cannot come out. They're for different public construction places.

Re: Screws
DA, you should grow a long beard, dye your hair white, wear white robes, and walk with a cane.

On topic: I've always wondered the need of 15 different types of screwdrivers, considering what DA said, it's still way too many, it's pointless and useless.... |
