Here's the deal... Confront him about it. Ask if he meant like, "love" playfully or for real. If he says for real, get the FUCK away from him because he's crazy.

And just be honest. Seriously, it works. Tell him you'd prefer to only say that you love each other only after you guys actually feel it. Otherwise it puts a strain on the relationship and etc.
