Although i agree that jiraiya can beat itachi..but there was a thread there that had some theories that itachi is already at the level of the sannins so its not an easy question.

I think that Jiraiya would have no chance against Itachi. All Itachi would have to is catch him him in tsukyomi or however you spell it and it's all over. Jiraiya doesn't have one technique that level the playing field against the MS. Jiraiya is also not the genjutsu type so he'll easily get caught in genjutsu. Itachi>Jiraiya.

He just need to ask Fukasaku to dispell Tsukoyomi, just like what 8-tailed do before, let the his bijuu to overpower Sasuke MS Genjutsu...Once Itachi trapped in Jman Song Genjutsu, its over...

Im glad to see this is now a *happy* place...

What type is Jman then?
I think Jman has alot more help at his disposal... he's got friends to help, the toads that is. What can Itachi summon? can you do ms on Gamabunta? jus asking...
And I think he could do alot of stuff that we didn't know about, haven't we seen the extent of Itachi's power?

Jiraiya is awsome, but Itachi would wope his ass. I guess all of u would say Jiraiya because this is the Jiraiya Fanclub. Jiraiya and Tsunade togeather couldn't take Orochimaru when Itachi took him down all by himself.

During Sannin battle...Jiraiya, Tsunade and Oro werent in best shape to fight..Jiraiya was drug by Tsunade, Tsunade had Hemophobia and Oro lost both arm..so, not wise to judge Jman ability from that battle...we have seen Jman's Sage Mode, he manage to overpower Pain and kill 3/6 Pain bodies while Pain is superior to Itachi..Itachi defeat Oro using his MS Genjutsu and Jman also had more dangerous Genjutsu, so if Itachi vs Jman...its still 40-60..

Can Sasuke develop this on his own without someone to guide him? or is this what everyone is talking about? whether he can do it or not

Yes we have. They show it in the fight bewteen Sasuke and Itachi. I don't know if he can develop that. No we are not talking about that.
