VICTORIA -- More than 20 students at one middle school in Sooke were suspended for a day last week after teachers began getting complaints that they were kicking redheads.
The students, boys and girls from grades 6, 7 and 8, were sent home Thursday after taking part in "National Kick a Ginger Day."
The ugly online campaign was launched on Facebook by a 14-year-old Courtenay youth who is now under investigation by Comox Valley RCMP.
It was apparently inspired by an episode of the satirical cartoon South Park that urged members to "kick a ginger" -- someone with red hair -- on Nov. 20.
Isolated incidents were reported at other schools on Vancouver Island and in the Lower Mainland.
One student in New Westminster told reporters she ran from the people kicking her, who suggested she had "no soul, so you probably can't feel pain either."
In the South Park episode called "Ginger Kids," one of the characters says redheads are soulless.

Ugh...These kids who were going around kicking people with red hair are complete bastards. Now the soccermoms are going to go around blaming South Park for this. This once again proves my point that people are stupid.
