Kakashi is having a near death experience, he is probably got some more to learn from his father before he goes back.

He's most likely borderline dead. His spirit has passed on, but he'll come back when his body regains consciousness.

pretty sure he will die because kakashi is a very smart person who know his limits

hm... why do everyone think that kakashi is between life and death ???

this is naruto world everyone !!
- it make much more sense that kakashi is under some genjutsu, and if we look back when itachi was in konoha... everyone thought that se was there for naruto but we now know his true reason

, we also know that itachi somehow protected naruto from sasuke (or somethink like that), what if itachi did same to kakashi to prepare him for time when he come so close to death?

anyway that is what i belive is going on here...

If itachi saw a future in kakashi he would tell him. and who in their minds would put him under genjutsu wen they culd just finish them off with a nail. and itachi coming for 9 tails, wen itachi was in konoha he focused mainly on gettin inside sasuke's head so he can become more determined, you can see that early in the manga. Naruto has extensions, But not this far. If it did have extensions like what you described, Jariya and Asuma would still be alive

i didnt say that pain put kakashi in genjutsu, i think that itachi somehow put that genjutsu in kakashi and that it would activate in near death experience...

well it does not mater, i certainly dont think that kakashi is really talking with his dad that is dead, that would be stupid...

well... think about it... it would simpy be stupid that kakashi can be half dead and talk with his dad and after that survive, there was nothing about faith or life after death in naruto and how can now that be hapening - it make no sense

Right now it is unclear whether or not he is really dead. But I would bet that he isn't. I mean we need to see more from him before he dies.

Naruto2008 has a good point if he is going to die we might see some of his childhood.

He is not dead, and I am sure he won't die now.
If he were dying, we would have at least one chapter dedicated to his flashbacks. That's only one little reason, there are a lot more.

I hope u are wrong because if that's the case, his father does want to hear all about his life, which will be one "long" flashback.
