^it's a different language thread mibs. in there are 106 distinct dialects in the Philippines. here we speak one kind. the other thread is Ilonggo. another dialect. just like Fukien, and Mandarin chinese... very different from each other...

@Mibs: yep, just what maddog said. We have more than 100 languages. here we speak our official language, tagalog. In the other thread, we speak Ilonggo.

Wrong. Aba. Ilonggo is a language. Epalwizlaloo. Tagalog is a language. Ilokano, Bisaya, and Chabacano are, as well. 'Wag jausapin ang jepal. All are Flip languages, but they all qualify as different languages unto themselves. Nagpapa-pampam. Bawat isa may iba't ibang dialect, bawat isa ay naiiba sa iba.

Ok. First of all, the 2 threads, The Tambayan and the Ilonggo threads, were kept by the mods after they questioned the so many filipino threads 3 years ago. They closed the 2 other threads (coz there were like 4 fil threads before). Second, yes, both are part of the 100+ Philippine languages.Third this section is the "Language Section". So posting on 2 different threads using 2 different languages makes sense, regardless of the 2 languages's origin.

Yes, sometimes. There are some words that are both used in tagalog and ilonggo, like bata, tao, etc. But generally they differ in structure and verb usage.

Nope. The "Filipino" in the interwebs is Tagalog.

Did you know that some Filipinos cant even speak in Tagalog? They speak their own vernacular.
