I say Katon. The first elemental jutsu he masters is a fire jutsu. Don't you think if he was a raiton, he would have had a lot more difficulty? And I'm not sure where but I remember Sasuke's dad said something about the Uchiha crest/logo/whatever symbolised the fan that fueled the fire type something of the Uchiha and Kakashi also said that uchiha's were usually fire users. (I'm not very specific but oh well)

Sasuke probably likes the lightening blade more because it's waaaay better at killing people. I'd pretty sure a stab to the heart works way more effictively than just burning someone.

Here's a random thought. Does kakashi use eye drops. I couldn't help but notice Orbito had to constantly use them because he had dry eyes, despite wearing goggles which should have helped by keeping wind off of them. So if he had to wear goggles and use eye drops it must have been pretty severe, yet never has kakashi shown a problem with it.

Him saying he had something in his eyes was just a lie that he used to cover up the fact that he froze in battle, much like naruto's first battle in the zabuza arc when sasuke saved his butt and called him a scaredy cat. During one fight Orbito said he had something in his eye and minato points out that he was wearing goggles so that's impossible. But yeah did cry a lot.

I guess that proves it. Although, were they talking about their primary elements or something corny like personality? I went back a few pages but it didn't really make much sense.

When i first read it i thought it was something like they both have the sharingan or something, but now im pretty sure that he mean tchakra type (it wasn't introduced till then i think, at least not in detail

By age 12 sasuke could perfom any katon jutsu exept amaterasu. So obviously katon is his natural affinity to be able to use so easily even before his SG which is his kekei genkai.

Katon is sasuke natural affinity while raiton is another jutsu he picked up from kakashi by using his SG to copy hand signs, chakra manipulation and all so he could master chidori in a mere month to battle gaara.

And kakashis words of sasuke like me was his comparison sasuke use of speed, stealth, skill, finnese and wits to beat his opponent opposed to raw power and numbers to overwhelm which is why chidori would be an effective tool for sasuke since chidori is a combo of fast taijutsu and raiton ninjutsu for piercing vital points.

Oh dear god people are still debating this!!! Sasuke has KATON as his primary element. Kakashi was talking about sasuke having Sharingan and also having a high speed body type both of which are necessary to properly use Chidori.

Just one thing I'll add. It seems a persons primary chakra type is easier to use and train with then there secondary type. Sasuke learned fireball jutsu in a couple of weeks of training without any training or SG to copy with. IMO, if he had SG and a good teacher he could have learned it in a day. Yet It took him a full month to learn chidori with both SG and the creator of chidori to teach him. Had he been a natural Raiton user it shouldn't have taken that long.

Another thing is it took naruto a week to learn rasengan and it took sasuke a full month to learn chidori. Why would that be if they are both about the same in strength. It's not like sasuke wasn't training as hard as naruto. IMO it's because Sasuke had a disadvantage training with his secondary element.

Dude, the katon was C rank (r maybe even D rank) Chidori is A rank. If you read the battle you would have seen that he also spent A BIG portion of the month solely on improving his tai skills! So he only spent a fraction on directly learning chidori. Without those tai skills Chidori would be significantly less efficient.

Oh and naruto learning rasengan in one week is a very common misconception which is not true, it took him significantly more

^ Yeah. He had learned the basic concepts and had mastered the balloon popping and the rubber ball but he hadn't quite mastered retaining it's shape when he met Tsunade, and then he spent the next week training, trying to get the shape and ended up using shadow clones.

Yes Fireball jutsu is a much weaker tech then Chidori. However their are other factors to consider. First of all he learned Fireball jutsu before entering the academy. He was taught the handseals needed but that was all. So Sasuke had to learn how to control his chakra by himself, which would have took some time also. Also sasuke was a pussy back then. He didn't have half the motivation he had after the uchiha massacre.

So yeah chidori was harder to learn, but him having SG and an actual trainer helped speed it up. Whereas when he learned Fireball jutsu he did it all himself.

All this is irrelevant anyway. His primary chakra type is FIRE. THE END!!

PS. As for naruto's rasengan training it took him 1 day to complete the 1st step and 1 day to complete the 2nd step. I can't remember how long he tried to use them together, but I it wasn't more then a few days. So for 4-6 days he trained before he made the deal with tsunade to master it in a week. So at tops it took him 2 weeks to master that jutsu, Half the time it took sasuke. And don't think for a minute naruto learning chakra manipulation was any easier then sasuke learning Taijutsu.

Well, I was reading over some chapters and I found something that kinda interests me. Now, we all know the kyuubi is pretty enthusiastic about taking over Naruto (every single time naruto needs some of his chakra, kyuubi's always like "JUST TAKE IT ALL AND WE CAN BE AWESOME TOGETHER!") but does he actually care for Naruto's life or does he just not want him to die because if Naruto dies, he does?

This is the chapter in question. I know that was a while ago but still.
