Re: BALMUNG!!!

the wicker man is a remake?
I can't think of one movie i liked nicolas cage in...

remakes are almost always a poor choice
example: dr. dolittle, "flubber," escape/return to witch mountain, the parent trap.

It looks fairly well produced, but I didn't see anything whilst it was out here to suggest it was anything more than a run of the mill BBC production. It's not something I'd pay or go out of my way to see. It would be more interesting if you knew nothing about the events.

Any movie about Darwin that is released in the US I am willing to go see. Darwin's struggle is the struggle of a hero. He knows it is right, but he realizes that the culture will ostracize him for it. In the end he publishes it. That is good story for anyone who has ever been rational amidst an extremely irrational culture. I attend a Christian school so I am surrounded by it. I used to write my essays based on a Christian world view because I was afraid I would be expelled. Now I have just given up and told them the truth. Just about every teacher has a distaste for me. Some try to hide it, but it shows.

Re: BALMUNG!!!

I like Nicholas Cage. 8]

In Lord of War, Family Man, Face Off, and some others.
Face Off is so ridiculous that I enjoy it.
My favorite part of Lord of War was Jared Leto's 'cokraine' creation. 8]

I personally don't think that movie looks all that great, but I bet it'll have some funny parts.

It's no wonder how they scream
Like you and I they must have some temper

And I am dreaming of them on the plains
Dirtying up their beds
Watching for some sign of rain to cool their hot heads

And how dare that you send me that card when I'm doing all that I can do
You are forcing me to remember when all I want is to just forget you

If the tiger shall protect her young then tell me how did you slip by
All my instincts have failed me for once
I must have somehow slept the whole night

And I am dreaming of them with their kill
Tearing it all apart
Blood dripping from their lips and teeth sinking into heart

And how dare that you say you'll call
When you know I need some peace of mind
If you have to take sides with the animals
Won't you do it with one who is kind

And if the hawks in the trees need the dead
If you're living you don't stand a chance
For a time though you share the same bed
There are only two ends to this dance

You can flee with your wounds just in time or lie there as he feeds
Watching yourself ripped to shreds and laughing as you bleed

So for those of you falling in love keep it kind
Keep it good
Keep it right
Throw yourself in the midst of danger but keep one eye open at night

The Wicker Man is pretty much considered the worst remake. The original was really good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqNfa9sAj1g

The thing about The Wicker Man is that there really is no film like it. The soundtrack is also a classic.

That sentiment is admirable, but as I'm sure you understand it really doesn't need to be applied here. Actual practising Christians are an increasing minority in the UK, and Darwin is a national icon - he's on our money, and more importantly last year there was loads of coverage on his life and achievements for the bicentennial anniversary. There was little reason to go out and see a romantic film about his indecision to publish when there was a series of good documentaries and events to tell the story, as well as the science, more thoroughly.

You asked if anyone was going to see it, and as a film it's not particularly enticing, you're interested in it because of what it is trying to portray, not what is necessarily is. It's understandable if you really do live in the society you've built it up to being, but for people not under that stimulus the film really does look like a bit of a wet drip.

Re: BALMUNG!!!

Nick Cage can suck a dick, this movie is obviously centered around that hot piece of ass killing everything.

Also, that link in my first post has a new trailer in it.

McLovin is in it apparently.
