Re: Lesson #1

Not really, it can be both.
Some guys say "a as in ah or apple"
some gals say "a as in father"
Can depend on where you're from too but doesn't really matter.

Like "ima nanji desu ka?"
For some it just comes out like "kah" like car without the r.

Re: Lesson #1

If anyone wants help to start. I tutor Japanese at my school. Let me know and I'd be happy to help. It's sad that this thread died...

Like the original poster said: I AM NOT A DICTIONARY, though, so don't ask me stupid questions.

My name is John, by the way. PM me and I'll give you my email address. ^_^

Re: Lesson #1

It was left about 3 years ago.

If you want something incredibly important to remember, memorize the hiragana and katakana alphabet. Then, PM me and I'll teach you some words and grammar.

Re: Lesson #1

Someone should estabilish an online Japanese learning centre. Something like a group-chat/audio-chat... kinda' like Skype. But hell... how many people do u know who know japanese, and are willing to do all this for free? right?

I know how to speak, read and write in four languages (Armenian, Arabic, French and English), and I really want to learn Japanese.
I know some Japanese from the animes I've watched (156 animes up to date) but I still can't construct long sentences. I just know expressions (almost all of them). In other words, some basics.

If there's anybody here who's willing to teach me how to speak Japanese, I am willing to teach them how to speak any of the languages I know.

On another hand: If you live in Beirut - Lebanon, I am willing to pay you for per session (if you're good enough). If you're willing to come to my place to teach, I'll even pay for your transportation.

You can find me online at: sca_ara@hotmail.com
