Technically, we have already found "aliens": extraterrestrial bacteria. Therefore, it is only logical to assume there are more complex creatures somewhere in the vastness of the universe.

lots of aliens out there. we're just too primitive. the scientists are embarrassed to admit that. that the tools worth billions, and funded by public money can only see so little, all the SETI machines, hi tech telescopes etc. but at least we can see something, just that it ain't definitive yet.

I believe there something out there, think about it you got our solar system what got 9 planets, yer then you the our galaxy what got millions of solar systems init, then you got the universe what got millions or billions of galaxys in it. so there got to be ofter life apart from use.

^I believe he means that life existed on earth by some sort of "coincidence" and by the larger numbers of planets,the larger is the possibilities for such coincidence to happen again. In addition to the theory of the universe being so big that it keeps extending itself towards infinite,he took it for granted that there must be lives on another planets.

Probability wise, sure. If I flip a coin and it lands heads then that doesn't have any influence on the outcome of the next coin flip. Life existing here doesn't have any effect of any potential life elsewhere. They're all separate events in that respect.

However, if one can prove that life exists somewhere in the universe, then that proves that life existing in the universe is possible. Which means life existing elsewhere in the universe is also possible. Since we already know the universe can support life under certain conditions.

So the fact that life exists in the universe makes it more likely that more life might exist elsewhere in the universe, compared to no life existing anywhere. A single occurrence does present the ability to logically claim the very real possibility of extraterrestrial life.

Now, if we changed the topic to "ghosts" instead of aliens, then the difference is extremely noticeable. Since there isn't any credible proof of ghosts existing anywhere ever. So claiming ghosts might exist would be entirely illogical.

tl;dr-Life existing here does lend credit to the stance that life might exist elsewhere.

Yes, but I think many people overestimate the probability of life occurring at all. The way I read into most of these arguments, it sounds as though the people making them are reasoning "Life is supposed to be highly improbable, but it happened anyway, so it must be more probable than we think."
