I agree that the distinction should be made between how the death itself affected and how the posthumous reaction to the death affected the reader.

Haku had one of the sadder Posthumous reactions, but his death itself wasn't terrifically tragic. Zabuza, on the other hand, got very little in the way of postmortem reaction, but his death itself was decidedly tragic.

I have to say, the saddest/most well done deaths/near-deaths themselves would probably be Obito, Yahiko, and, IMO, Danzo.

Of the "what happens after they die" category, the best have GOT to be Hiruzen, Asuma, and Jiraiya.

But, the only death I really feel is good in both categories has gotta be Itachi. Because the way he died, we weren't sure what to feel at first, and then all the revelations occured. His death itself became very, very tragic, and the 'reaction' to his death is still going on as Sasuke continues to make his death more and more sad by making Itachi's sacrifice pointless.

I think that Gaara's death-rebirth-and Chiyo-Ba's sacrifice scene was epic!!! It illustrated what a tragic character Gaara was in PT.1 and how through his will to be a better person (Naruto's influence) he had gained soooo many friends and has found a life worth living. It also united the Sand and Leaf even more than before to the point that i think they'll be forever allies.


Obito's death was pretty F-ed up too. He was a kid half crushed by rocks, then scavenged for parts by his comrades while still alive (i know it was his idea, but still) and later we find out that Kakashi failed at the kid's dieing wish of protecting Rin. That's a shitty death

I disagree. While he makes a fairly decent point about how the effects of a given character's death is portrayed in the following issues vs. how they ACTUALLY died being tragic, and how those are two different situations. the cumulative total of both sides is what evokes emotion, and add to that how they "lived" their lives.

different people relate to different things, the way SeninKorby FEELS about a character certain character, the way they died and how their friends and loved ones reacted mat be completely different than another's.

IE: I could give 2 shits about Hiruzen's death scene or the after effects. he played a very small part in the story up to his death (But he was Hokage and he knew an assload of Jutsu... who cares he didn't progress the story). SeninKorby felt that this was pivotal.

but when sasuke learnt "the truth"
and when naruto found out

those moments were the saddest in this manga

also "sasuke's death" in part 1 against haku and narutos reaction was sad
that moment was when i really started this manga

So basically, in your attempt to say my evaluation of a good way to "judge" these things isn't accurate, you go after my opinion of which things, following those criteria, were the saddest? Huh? I'm 90% sure that what NN said was based around my thoughts that deaths should be judged under two categories, not which deaths I thought were the most well done.

Never speak in absolutes...in the following scenarios:

-Opinion-Based debate
-Speculation

If you are talking about things that are just plain set in stone, you can't say that the subjunctive should be necessary. There are some things that are undoubtedly true. There's a difference between refusing to accept facts and refusing to listen to people that claim their opinion is fact (assuming that it, in fact, ISN'T fact).

(BTW, the reason I feel Hiruzen's is good is because the anime did the funeral really well)

No you aren't.

purple is the result of the of two primary colors (or spectrums of light). in it's base form purple is red and blue combined. so no, purple does not exist. it is red and blue combined and cannot exist without mixing the red spectrum of light and the blue spectrum of light. not to mention the amount of each spectrum will give different degrees of "purple" (most commonly known as the violet light spectrum in physics).

there are different degrees of what is real and what is not with anything. thus NEVER SPEAK IN ABSOLUTES!!!

P.S. I'm not even taking into account people who are color blind. These people have a completely different view of your "rules" for color.

^Purple is a color as it is the name for the color that is produced in a combination of Red and Blue where Blue is slightly dominant. Colors are just specific wavelengths within the spectrum of visible light, and thus since purple is produced by the reflection of all colors except the combination of Red and Blue that produces purple, your point what we like to call: moot.
