I said the Kyuubi's chakra surrounding Naruto until he locked the seal is what the "aura" was, and it was the reasoning for the tomes, necklace, and the rest showing up on his body.

He took on the "sage aura" because he had successfully obtained the Kyuubi's chakra in combination with the Sage's key and seal. Makes sense, doesn't it?

ok quick question.. do you think without the key and seal if naruto had taken on the fox xhakra that he would not have gotten the sage aura

simplified.. the seal and key is what caused the sage aura after getting the fox chakra

Without the Kyuubi sealed inside of Naruto, he wouldn't have been able to take over the chakra like he did. What a dumb ass question....

PS...it wasn't a SAGE AURA. It was just chakra and the seal....
