Just a heads-up: my fic is middle-ages thing, with very little magic influence and mostly sword to sword fights. The important part of the fic is the number of chars (too many for some; it's hard to follow sometimes), politics and assassins (you guys could take them as Akatsuki). The books of A Song of Ice and Fire series (HBO will make a series out of it soon too) were the main influence aside from tons of other works. So if you read those books, you will find some things very familiar, and if you like that setting, then you are welcome into the section (of course, not being a dumbass is a must). If you don't like that, check out other fics, there are tons of good material, and if you don't like any of the manly themes, gtfo.

If nothing else I want to read Shrikes story. I love anything medieval related, and I'm curious to what similarities it has to the, A Song of Ice and Fire series (which needs to hurry up and release book 5 already, arrg).

I don't plan on writing any stories of my own, since I suck at writing, but I'll be happy to discuss other people fanfics.

No, but his writing skills were evidently awesome once, when he gave us a short paragraph.

The setting reminds a lot of Westeros, but toss out Deneris and dragons and shit. Dragons are too worn out. Politics reminds a bit of SoIaF as well, but to a lesser degree since this is more action packed then the said book's chapters. I even copied two or three small scenes from the book to honor the man who gave me the general idea. I discussed the similarities with Tech already, but any discussion to what you like and dislike is always appreciated. Just think of it as a Naruto chapter discussion thread.

Other works you may associate the fic to are Berserk (manga), Warcraft III, and others.

As to when The Dance with the Dragons will come out, my guess is next year, but Martin had slacked off for far too long, and he may die without finishing the book, which sucks massive balls.

Van's, even thought I haven't read a lot, reminds a bit of Starcraft for much older audience. It's a fappic, and it's awesome. It's fast paced, and I like that.

G's is somewhat alike to Bleach, but with OH people it can't be bad, and he is humorous.

LN's is also about space and shit, and it's, as far as I have read (about half of it), excellent. Even though it's long, it's, IMO, well worth the time.

Zero started a good one, but only had two chapters as I remember. Same for Bal.

BK's is totally different. It's about high schools and shit, and it's entertaining as hell, reminds of some mangas.

Haven't read Kina's and others.

Edit: Oh, and DO NOT open the glossary on the first page until you have read most of the stuff. Spoilers guaranteed. At least in my fic.

If you enjoy doing art and get inspired by one of the fics, feel free to draw and share. I, especially, love seeing member's sketches. And I'm sure the authors really appreciate that form of feedback as well. There have been a few done already, but I think the majority are in the midst of pages of discussion, so you may not want to sift through any of that until you've read most of the story, cause there will definitely be spoilers abound.

@IKN - Can't answer your question cause I'm not familiar with that game. But I'm going to guess no? Though I'm pretty sure metal gear has been used as inspiration by some of the authors.
