Re: Suddenly, robots!

Mal, if possible try to document it as you build it, how long it takes you and all... with lots of pretty pictures. I'll have my Zero posted up in a bit and gonna start my Zaku tomorrow. Gonna paint it?

Re: Suddenly, robots!

I would like to, but that would put off construction for some time. I'm still trying to convince myself it will be worth it in the long run, but I'm not sure I'm buying it.

Re: Suddenly, robots!

I might buy another MG next year, but before cutting out the pieces, get some sandpaper and go through 'em, then paint it well with burn marks and sexiness and make it look battle damaged. Anyways, here:

That would require even more time, because I'd have to get the funds for an air brushing system, then practice on 2-3 MGs before doing Wing Zero.

A few size-comparison shots with my 1/100 scale MG Strike Freedom. The Zero crest is just ever so slightly in front of the Strike Freedom's face.

Which reminds me, I never got around to showing you guys my Christmas tree this year.

Re: Suddenly, robots!

One hour twenty minutes in I have two arms built.

Arms
Elbow
Side A
Side B

Approximately 28 individual pieces and 7 screws per arm even before the external armour is added.

While lurking the booths at the "worlds largest" flea market here in Lake Mary Florida I come across this:

I snatched them up just because.

Re: Suddenly, robots!

My Gunpla skill is returning. Building the legs took me only one hour ten minutes, bringing my total time thus far to two and a half hours.

Each legs has 44 individual pieces and 8 screws. The main joint pieces of the knee are metal.

Legs
Straight
Bent
Knee

And for size comparison purposes, here is a leg beside a 1/144th scale Freedom Gundam. The leg also has more pieces than the entire 1/144th scale model.
Leg vs Freedom

Re: Suddenly, robots!

As you may be able to tell from the dust on these parts, I actually built them a while ago and just never got around to uploading images. These pretty much finish off the skeleton, so most of the work for the next little while will be panel lining.

Head

The head has 9 pieces, one screw holds the neck together and there are two more inside to secure the wiring to the LED.

Torso
Torso - Above

The torso has 45 pieces, including most of the metal ones, and 10 screws. There are convenient access panels in the hips that allow access to the adjustment screws for the legs.

Re: Suddenly, robots!

Yeah yeah yeah - the step by step is impressive and whatnot ... get to the finish product where you sit, admire it for 3 minutes then pick it up and fly it around your apartment yelling "pew pew pew"
