Re: The World's Happiest Countries

I meant signal jammers not the jammer you are talking about, I know that already. >_< Can you tell me what sonars can and can't detect? I might be able to piece together what he meant or just ask him when I see him again. Also, lol he's not falling for that and he has a wife, things to do with her and other stuff so he can't really go on. All we do is read a book(All Quiet on the Western Front by ? I forgot lol, and Macbeth by Shakespeare) for half the period and listen to his stories then do an essay at the end of the marking period and all of the test are open-book tests and get grammar lessons occassionally and write a couple of vocabulary words. Since school security is so tight, I can't ask him to go on here and "Debate" with you(You can't go to youtube.) I'm saying there's no point.

So you can post the second bit and i shouldnt be allowed to if i dont tell you? Why be so rude?

Anyways, here is a quotes for noobs guide

1. A basic quote

[*QUOTE][*/QUOTE]

(the * need to be removed for it to work, I put them in so you can see the text) is a basic quote that just wraps something in a quote without saying who quoted it who quoted so

[*QUOTE]this is a quote[*/QUOTE] without any * would look like
Quote:
this is a quote

Edit: there is a button for this, it looks like a speech bubble. If you select text and then press the button the selected text will automatically be wrapped with the quote tag

2. A quote that says who said it

[*QUOTE=who said it][*/QUOTE] this adds who said the post, manually putting that there can be useful when quoting something external. Example:

[*QUOTE=Mangastream]Remember all you sexy bastards out there, Naruto, Bleach, OP, FT, etc. all on break this week. Feel free to take your rage out on us[*/QUOTE] without any * would look like
Quote:

3. A quote that says who said it and links to the post where it was said

[*QUOTE=who said it;X][*/QUOTE]

Where X is the post number.

For the post that i originally quoted it would look like this

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey, how do you break it up please and if your not willingly to tell me, then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]

That is what you get when you press the quote button.

4. Breaking up a quote

Now that you know how quotes work it all boils down to preference, how you want it to look like and how you want to do it.

One way of doing it is copying the latter part of the original quote [*/QUOTE] and then pasting it after each section you break up, write your reply, choose the text you want then paste it after that portion, repeat till you finish the go back and copy then paste the first part of the text at the beginning of each portion of text. Of course you can immediately copy and paste both parts of a poste so that you dont forget one in the end.

The end result would be something like this

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey,[*/QUOTE]
My reply 1
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164] how do you break it up please[*/QUOTE]
my reply 2
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]and if your not willingly to tell me, [*/QUOTE]
my reply 3
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]
my reply 4

Which without any * would look like

Another way of doing it would be to cut and paste the second part of the quote tag after the first section of text you want to seperate then write your reply select the second part and hit he quote button (it looks like a text bubble),if you do that without anything else the end result would be

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey,[*/QUOTE]

[*QUOTE] how do you break it up please[*/QUOTE]
my reply 2
[*QUOTE]and if your not willingly to tell me, [*/QUOTE]

To make it like the previous example (which wpuld be preferred, though not necessary ) copy the part that says who posted with the link to the post and paste it accordingly to the proper part in each first half of each quote tag. In my I would copy =minato uchiha;2118164 and paste it where the # is
[*QUOTE#] to get [*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164] (of course with the * removed)

Of course you can use any other method you like to get to the end result, but now that you know what the end rwsult looks like I think there shouldnt be any problems

No, you're reading it wrong. Pirates are the dependent variable, not temperature. Therefore, the graph tells you that the more pirates you remove from the Earth, the warmer it becomes. Ergo, to save the world, we need to start pirating again. I'm nominating those fellows from Somolia for a Peace Prize.

You know how many bodies got dump in hudson river from the 50's? In a town when someone is missing, the first place to look is either at the bottom of the hudson or manhattan river and all this time no one saw those subs of yours.

In other words, piracy is the key to mankind utopia

Being Malaysian is about driving in a German car to an Indian restaurant for an Indonesian food, then travelling home, grabbing a Pakistani kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV. Because we have no originality.

You prerogative, but I'm just explaining how it is correctly read. Science is pretty particular about these things. Mal is also correct about the positive slope thing, even though it is designed the way it is to show dates. A better graph would be to have year as the X axis and have two Y axes, one of temperature and one of number of pirates with two curves, showing that as time went on, temperature went up and pirates went down.

Of course, they you downgrade the relationship to association rather than causal, but it'd still be more correct.

Re: The World's Happiest Countries

With Temperature on the x axis and Pirates on the y, dates could still be labelled at points along the line.

Re: The World's Happiest Countries

I'll elaborate a bit more on that graph.

First off, pirates being on the lower axis does not automatically mean its a function of pirates, anybody can switch axises.

Now take a look at the axis with pirates, it goes 35000 45000 then 20000, while the temperature is constantly rising. going up then going down. you see it now? see why the implication is mathematically contradicted? no?

ok, for this to be a function of pirates, for every given number of pirates there has to be a unique value of temperature. However in this graph this is obviously not the case, because for the same number of pirates you have two different values of temperature. So it is mathematically impossible for this graph to be a function of pirates with temperature being inversely proportional to the number of pirates

The graphs's primary implication (less pirates->higher temperature) might be interesting to the naive eye, however it is mathematically impossible. I myself would have found it interesting if it wasn't for it going against maths.

Quotes for noobs (learn how to break up a quote)

My reply 1
[*QUOTE] how do you break it up please[*/QUOTE]
my reply 2
[*QUOTE]and if your not willingly to tell me, [*/QUOTE]
my reply 3
[*QUOTE]then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]
my reply 4

Which would look like

To make it like the previous example (which wpuld be preferred, though not necessary ) copy the part that says who posted with the link to the post and paste it accordingly to the proper part in each first half of each quote tag. In my I would copy =minato uchiha;2118164 and paste it where the # is
[*QUOTE#] to get [*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164] (of course with the * removed)

Of course you can use any other method you like to get to the end result, but now that you know what the end rwsult looks like I think there shouldnt be any problems

Re: The World's Happiest Countries

Because the graph is completely contrived, and was put together by someone who obviously does not understand proper graphing.
