If it was 48/(2(9+3)), it would force the multiplication so you would get 48/24=2. That's using PEMDAS of course. Don't know how other people are taught. =/ Yeah, close thread. ) we always multiply by whatever the answer in the parenthesis is before any other multiplication or division is done. With that said in all other instances you normally multiply or divide starting from left to right, so I could see how some people could get 288. That just isn't how I've always seen it done,
