I'm hesitant about their claims that the Wii 2 will be significantly more powerful than the ps3, considering we still haven't seen the most of what the ps3 can do.

The blatant exclamation of "its not a gimmick" is a tad worrisome. Ill have to wait and see how this develops before I show to much interest. The first bit of good news I would like to here is that the backward compatibility extends to the GC, but I know thats wishful thinking. I will keep hopes up that this new system may restore my faith in the franchise.

Wii sales have dropped considerably , and the used game market is saturated with them so much you can find the console for cheaper then single new games in somne instances. that may be the big reason for this sudden push, but I would have thought that the 3ds could have staved off the necessity.

This is pretty awesome. I remember when this was suppose to be a movie. A director who wanted the project, shot footage and posted a trailer, in the hopes of enticing investors into footing the bill for a feature film. Thought the whole thing fell apart... Glad they got enough to at least run the mini series, and by the looks of it, with most of the same actors. Because of that I expect the scenes that were shown in the trailer to pop up in the series at some point. Can check out the original trailer here.

I grew up on Nintendo, and have a soft spot for all their franchise games. I just salivate at the thought of the caliber of Zelda or Metroid game that could be achieved with the sort of power they're promising. But I guess we'll see if they can deliver. And for fuck's sake, give me the option of using a regular controller, not waving one around in the air like a fool.

I plugged my GC into my HDTV the other day and played some Twin Snakes.

I'd rather use a PC with Dolphin and play upscaled Gamecube and Wii games than buy a backwards compatible Wii 2.

Nice plan Nintendo, bring a weaker console first with innovation as its tool and make it a success. Now 5 years later bring out a powerful console set to take on the PS3 and 360 which will have longer life spans than other consoles.

Money money money $$$$. Now Microsoft and Sony must be hitting their heads planning on taking Nintendo again, expect announcements of new consoles pretty soon for them.

Doubt it, Microsoft is still expecting the 360 to last for about 2 more years. Sony is looking at another 5, at least. Not to mention, like I said, we haven't seen the peak of what the ps3 can do.

I hate the wii. I'm talking serious rancor here. Like, if I came across a furry child molester and a wii in a dark alley I'd stomp the fuck out of the furry, but only because I know the wii won't be able to get away so I can just stomp the fuck out of it afterward. Even before that shit came out I was like "what the fuck is this shit?" Then it came out and I was like "Why is everyone buying this shit? I hate everyone." Hate wii so much.

So the wii 2 better be very non wii-like. That said, if it has a couple of games that look kick ass I'll probably get one and then hardcore regret it later down the line when it gets shit gimmicky garbage game after shit gimmicky garbage game. And maybe, just maybe, Online Pokemon game? OMG!!!


Also, that civilization V game kinda looks pretty cool. Hmm.
