Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

Two hands on the wheel just feels awkward for me.

And yeah I hate when people dont have any driving ethics and dont obey the law. Yesterday I got really pissed. I was turning right after a red light and this guy in a mercedes was turining left, and of course he freakin cut me off. The worst thing was the drivers (and co-passengers) face after I hit the horn, they look so puzzled, like why the fuck did you hit the horn, we were faster?

Quotes for noobs (learn how to break up a quote)
Quote:

So you can post the second bit and i shouldnt be allowed to if i dont tell you? Why be so rude?

Anyways, here is a quotes for noobs guide

1. A basic quote

[*QUOTE][*/QUOTE]

(the * need to be removed for it to work, I put them in so you can see the text) is a basic quote that just wraps something in a quote without saying who quoted it who quoted so

[*QUOTE]this is a quote[*/QUOTE] without any * would look like
Quote:
this is a quote

Edit: there is a button for this, it looks like a speech bubble. If you select text and then press the button the selected text will automatically be wrapped with the quote tag

2. A quote that says who said it

[*QUOTE=who said it][*/QUOTE] this adds who said the post, manually putting that there can be useful when quoting something external. Example:

[*QUOTE=Mangastream]Remember all you sexy bastards out there, Naruto, Bleach, OP, FT, etc. all on break this week. Feel free to take your rage out on us[*/QUOTE] without any * would look like
Quote:

3. A quote that says who said it and links to the post where it was said

[*QUOTE=who said it;X][*/QUOTE]

Where X is the post number.

For the post that i originally quoted it would look like this

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey, how do you break it up please and if your not willingly to tell me, then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]

That is what you get when you press the quote button.

4. Breaking up a quote

Now that you know how quotes work it all boils down to preference, how you want it to look like and how you want to do it.

One way of doing it is copying the latter part of the original quote [*/QUOTE] and then pasting it after each section you break up, write your reply, choose the text you want then paste it after that portion, repeat till you finish the go back and copy then paste the first part of the text at the beginning of each portion of text. Of course you can immediately copy and paste both parts of a poste so that you dont forget one in the end.

The end result would be something like this

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey,[*/QUOTE]
My reply 1
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164] how do you break it up please[*/QUOTE]
my reply 2
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]and if your not willingly to tell me, [*/QUOTE]
my reply 3
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]
my reply 4

Which without any * would look like

Quote:

Another way of doing it would be to cut and paste the second part of the quote tag after the first section of text you want to seperate then write your reply select the second part and hit he quote button (it looks like a text bubble),if you do that without anything else the end result would be

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey,[*/QUOTE]
My reply 1
[*QUOTE] how do you break it up please[*/QUOTE]
my reply 2
[*QUOTE]and if your not willingly to tell me, [*/QUOTE]
my reply 3
[*QUOTE]then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]
my reply 4

Which would look like

Quote:

my reply 4

To make it like the previous example (which wpuld be preferred, though not necessary ) copy the part that says who posted with the link to the post and paste it accordingly to the proper part in each first half of each quote tag. In my I would copy =minato uchiha;2118164 and paste it where the # is
[*QUOTE#] to get [*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164] (of course with the * removed)

Of course you can use any other method you like to get to the end result, but now that you know what the end rwsult looks like I think there shouldnt be any problems

Whenever I have two hands on the wheel it feels like I should be driving much faster than I am, like I should be racing.

Speaking of driving fast, we've got these retarded "Over the speed limit, out of control" billboards popping up all around Manitoba recently that depict a vehicle rolling in a very strange manner. The problem I have with this is that I am absolutely certain I can control my vehicle better at high speeds than most other drivers can at lower speeds; I do not like having my driving skills prejudged by a billboard.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

My brother often tells me "You're a legend in your own mind". When ever I go into a rant about how I am the only good driver on the road. Which maybe he is right. Because I unequivocally feel as if I am the best driver on the planet. In my ten years of 'licensed' driving, I have literally encountered maybe 2 or 3 individuals I felt are worthy of being licensed to operate a vehicle. I am not above forcing someone to pull over and give me the keys to the car, physically if need be, so that I can drive. I don't play around with my life, and some asshole who drives recklessly.

I am all for the making of a more rigorous and stringent driving test, and licensing procedure. IMO 80% of the people operating a vehicle are unqualified for it, and thats me being generous.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

I believe it is Finland that has a ridiculously rigorous licensing system. They spend almost as much time on a skid pad learning how to control a vehicle that's out of control than most other nations spend teaching people to drive entirely.

As far as my friends driving recklessly, none of them drive poor enough that I feel as though my life is in danger. As long as I don't feel threatened, I don't really care what their stupidity may cause in damage to their own vehicle.

My friend Danny is a horrendous driver, but he's only gotten two tickets so far: going 80 mph on a shoulder and going 75 (really, it was 95) in a 65. I pray to all the gods whenever he's driving me.

I, on the other hand, am a great driver by Asian standards. Ya know, on the sidewalk, through crowded parks, and often flipping my car through intersections.

That stereotype is lived out to it's fullest in Vancouver, BC. It's a major immigration centre from Asia, and almost every single Asian who comes there goes to the small towns around the city to get their license, then proceed to have no idea how to drive in a city.

See this is the kind of foolishness I dont abide by.

I know not everyone is in the same kind of situation, but I am lucky enough to live near several race tracks that are often opened to the public on the off days. So as far as people around my parts are concerned, there is no excuse to drive like they're playing need for speed, since for 25 bucks you can go and do it in a controlled setting.

Well, that's better than Toronto. Here, all the driving instructors are immigrants, too. It's a self perpetuating shit storm.

Reminds me of the time an Asian guy tried to order Subway from some Middle Eastern woman, neither of whom really understood the mutual language in which they were trying to communicate.

@Axiom: I've always thought a track like that would make a killing around here, but we've only got a single (public) insurance company, so they control whether or not people could even choose to race their cars like that. Fucking monopolies.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

While driving, I often curse the gods for not giving me Magneto's mutant powers. I would totally crush a car that doesn't have it's lights on in shit weather into a cube and toss it off the road without thinking twice.

What pisses me off more than anything is when I'm chilling there waiting to turn because a dude is coming, and he turns down the road I'm on without using his turn signal. Like, he sees me there waiting with my turn signal on, and if he let's me know he's turning I could just go instead of waiting for him to pass, and he still doesn't have enough goddamn courtesy to move his hand half a centimeter to flip the turn signal on. I've thrown drinks or handfuls of loose change from my cup holder at people for that.

I could spend an hour making a delicious dinner or some shit and some dude could walk up to me and slam a handful of warm dog diarrhea on my plate and I would probably just laugh my balls off. But be slightly discourteous to me while driving and I'd have no problem ripping your throat out with my bare hands like goddamn Rambo did to that one asian dude in the newest rambo movie, no problem. Crazy shit.

Edit:

Today was delivery day for me at work. The store I work at is one of those outside mall things. Some asian guy somehow got his car perfectly stuck in the middle of the little road thing so that his car was perpendicular to the road (I dunno how to accurately describe it = /), I guess he was trying to turn around or some shit, and he had to keep backing up and going forward a few inches at a time to get out of that situation. I was just sitting there waiting, almost in tears from laughing at him. Took him a good ten minutes. He kept looking at me and bowing and shit, like he was so sowwy or something. Shit like that is just adorable.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets pissed as fuck while driving. Thought I had some sort of problem there for a bit. Also, I'm absolutely terrified when I'm in the passenger seat of a car the good majority of the time, especially with moo-cow sister. It's like she has no clue cars can coast. Gas or break, nothing else, ever.

I just realized that Magneto's powers would be amazing for driving. Not only could you manipulate other vehicles out of your way, you could theoretically manipulate electrical currents and change traffic lights.

Theoretically, if you were Magneto... you could just fucking fly everywhere and not waste your time with cars.
