If the elephants have past lives yet are destined to always remember
It's no wonder how they scream
Like you and I they must have some temper

And I am dreaming of them on the plains
Dirtying up their beds
Watching for some sign of rain to cool their hot heads

And how dare that you send me that card when I'm doing all that I can do
You are forcing me to remember when all I want is to just forget you

If the tiger shall protect her young then tell me how did you slip by
All my instincts have failed me for once
I must have somehow slept the whole night

And I am dreaming of them with their kill
Tearing it all apart
Blood dripping from their lips and teeth sinking into heart

And how dare that you say you'll call
When you know I need some peace of mind
If you have to take sides with the animals
Won't you do it with one who is kind

And if the hawks in the trees need the dead
If you're living you don't stand a chance
For a time though you share the same bed
There are only two ends to this dance

You can flee with your wounds just in time or lie there as he feeds
Watching yourself ripped to shreds and laughing as you bleed

So for those of you falling in love keep it kind
Keep it good
Keep it right
Throw yourself in the midst of danger but keep one eye open at night

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

Ordered a boxed set of the first four books(20 bucks woot!). Been hovering by the mailbox every evening, like a 50's youth waiting on his captain midnight secret decoder ring.

So many things left wide open in the last episode. There has been so much movement in what seems like a small amount of time. Arya is on her way to the wall, thats pretty sweet, and actually seems like a journey she may have chosen one day for herself. At least Snow will have some company up there. The scene with him riding out with the nightswatch, with that rather epic musical compisition.... it was good. I see snow maybe running castle black at some point. Though with the authors obvious ease at which he kills pov characters, one never knows.

I have been enjoying the small on-again-off-again verbal sparring match's between littlefinger and the spider. The two dangerous whisperers. Hell all the "lords of small matters" seem under estimated. Pycelle is obviously playing his role well.

She really is a detestable character.
Detestable is right, but her moral ambiguity notwithstanding, I find her one of the more intelligent characters in the series. In terms of grand scale prioritizing at least. She is one of the few none northern characters to stress the importance of the wall and the people trained to guard it. The threats beyond the narrow sea, and north of the wall, all seem like the more pressing of issues, yet there importance are lost on the majority of westeros' ruling class.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

Got booted out of bestbuy this afternoon. Was in the front of the line waiting to be called to the register to make my purchase. I didnt have my wallet with me, just a wad of cash that was laying lose on the dresser, and as I do sometimes, just stuffed it in my front pocket(which I have been chastised multiple times for because of shit like this.) I reached in my pocket to pull forth the money in preparation to make payment, then walked up to he counter when waved over. Noticing that there was a 50 dollar bill missing, and knowing I had it upon entering the store, and not having put my hand in my pockets until that point. I quickly figured when and where I dropped it. Went back to that spot, and asked if anyone saw my bill. Everyone in line was looking around avoiding eye contact, as if they knew exactly who grabbed it..... and got nothing.

I kind of snapped, I called over to the guy in the little security both by the entrance and demanded he pull up the footage of that location so I can see who scooped my money. Was immediately denied, and anger started to well up in me, I was almost radiating heat from my person I was so pissed. Making my way to back to the line, and stopping anyone from proceeding to checkout, I was almost yelling at the other patrons to fess up on who did it. No one spoke up. Since none of these dishonorable cunts had the moral fiber to do the right thing, I then began to run the pockets of people that was behind me in line. It was quite a scene, Im a big dude 6'1 250 lbs, and with obvious fury in my eyes, start patting down perfect strangers.

Anyway yeah, was not long before the police showed up and escorted me out of the building. I know its a lot of hoopla over 50 bucks, but I was more upset that someone would grab and pocket it, more then I was that I actually lost it. This nonsense ontop of a stressful workday.... I just kind of let lose. Got an earful when I got home though, because this is not the first time I had dropped money out of my pocket like this. God I love credit cards.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

Having worked at that desk for over 6 months, I can tell you that a lot of the time the cameras aren't pointed towards the registers, since the desk has a clear view of the area. When I did that job, the closest camera didn't even have a good view of the registers, though I did.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

At the depot there was a camera behind every two registers, even in outdoor seasonal, and only a few of the cameras in the aisles weren't dummies.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

The primary function of most security cameras is making people self-aware so that instead of thinking "Do I want to steal this?" they think "I am I the kind of person who would steal this?" This helps them consider their beliefs, and since most people like to think of themselves as honest they are less likely to do something dishonest.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

That only applies to people who are willing to steal something in the first place. Most people won't actually think about that because they decide not to steal something based on their own morals and don't need to consider possible consequences or planning. Besides, if someone wants to steal something they're going to do it, camera or not.
