Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28
Cat, could you present an actual rational argument that is backed by credible, factual sources that supports your stance?
Also, I voted straight democrat primarily because republican social positions are all pretty horrible and anti-freedom. I don't understand economics beyond super basic shit (Not that any logical arguments I've read have suggested republican economic positions are in any way superior anyway). Glorious freedom are my highest priorities. Also, PA sucks. I had a choice between Fuck Yeah, SOPA guy or a member of the Pro-Rape Brigade for senate. FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUU And fuck all your shit. Voting is a stupid way of deciding anything. I wouldn't let some dumbasses that don't know shit about medicine vote on what medical procedures I should have done if I were sick/injured as fuck. Because that's stupid. Just like it's stupid that we have a bunch of derps who don't know shit about economics or logic or anything vote for people based on their economic policies and shit. I'm not that smart, so I dunno a better system. I am, however, a huge man-child who really likes science fiction and videogames, so I'd suggest and support AI overlords. Also, that sandy storm raped faces here. That babe knocked down shit-tons of trees, and I went out and finished them off and chopped them to shit since I had nothing better to do since my power was out for over a week and I need wood for my wood stove thing anyway (They were pretty baby sized trees that fell in my property though...none of the big ones, because my trees aren't pussies I guess.). Everyone was crying like vaginas because they can't shower and they're cold and waahh while I just insta-make fires, feasted on stews and soups, and boil water to wash myself daily like a super beastly clean lumberjacking boss. And I got a lot of reading done too. At least for me. Entire Clash of Kings book in a week. By candlelight. With one eye. Manly, haha! |

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28
Another four years of Obama? Fuck.
Four years of Romney? Fuck. Simply sums up my thoughts. 2013 estate tax rising to 55% for net worth up to and over a million? Fuck. May sound selfish as hell but I do not want the revert of 2000/2001 to happen next year. My mawmaw is sick and her stocks, bonds and land just barely makes it past the million mark... Dad just got laid off, our awesome insurance is gone, and frankly my family will need the 340k we'd inherit with the current estate tax rate. Unless I'm missing something, I don't know, I'm pretty ignorant.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28
Seems like there are estate planners that can really help with that kind of thing. Something with gifting before the end of the year or something like that maybe. I'm sure there is something that could be done, especially if it's that close to the exemption limit and whatnot.
That said, = ( |

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28
Yeah, my Dad and my two Aunts are looking into it all. I've done some research and what I mentioned is not a reality, but it is a possibility. A million bucks is not very much in the scheme of things... Trying to make it through this article right now:http://wills.about.com/od/understand...utureoftax.htm
My Dad's 63 years old and has been planning to retire, but was going to wait 2 more years until I was no longer eligible for his insurance. I feel kinda like a brat but I've got a cavity and had an appointment for today, but our insurance ran out in Oct. So yeah. Gonna have to dish out some bucks to get it filled. My gas station laughs at health insurance, yo. lmfao. Ugh. /sadface. And of course my Mawmaw... I just keep hoping she bounces back and sticks around. But no one is optimistic. Fuckin' reality bites. She had two strokes. I don't know.

^ That sucks Brooke, if there's anything we Internet people can do to help you out just let us know.
Shit, don't say that. She might come to mine. Everyone discussing the Electoral College needs to STFU until they watch these: Explained Trouble Tie The Electoral College is stupid, the Two Party system is stupid (party politics in general is stupid), the idea that the President has a noticeable effect on the economy is stupid. |

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28
And this is why Brunei Darussalam is the best country in the world. (In my opinion)
1. No political parties 2. Brunei does not levy any income tax on individuals. There are also no capital gains tax, export, sales or payroll tax in Brunei. Brunei does not currently levy any income tax on individuals or other bodies of persons, apart from companies. There are no social security taxes in Brunei.

For example, let's say you want to pass a bill based on Economics. People who didn't complete high school and don't know that much about it would get 1 and so on, all the way to someone that belongs to the NPA and is working as an economist would get like 2.5. For elections that don't fit into a theme, like presidential elections, the average of all rates would do nicely, so that way someone ignorant of how their own country works and/or should work wouldn't be as relevant as someone who knows their shit. Of course some people would cry foul over it but there's a simple solution: getting educated. They don't even have to get PhD's, they'd only need to demonstrate they know very well what the fuck they're voting for. Quote:

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28
I agree with the lack of income tax though, I would prefer no income tax and increased consumption taxes.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28
Seriously - This is what is wrong with the American political system:
White People Morning Romney When elections become so Us vs Them that a loss gives this sort of reaction... shit. You still have a government, you're all Americans and either you'll all be screwed as one big group or you'll muddle through as you always do. Bush didn't destroy America, Clinton didn't destroy America, Obama won't destroy America. It is no wonder no one can get anything done in this system.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

On a more serious note, I think the negative reaction stemmed more from the fact that, realistically, the country was pretty much split between who the next president would be. Obama just got more votes from the States that matter. And that would obviously upset people. And nobody likes to lose. Not that that gives them excuse to be so dramatic, but sometimes people just like to think they're making a statement when they actually just look like sore losers. (And it wasn't even them that necessarily lost.) But nonetheless, people took the loss personally. If Romney had won the election, I probably would have been disappointed, but not enough to wear all black and cry like a child. I would have mentally readied myself to fight the power if he tried to take away planned parenthood and gay rights. And then I would have waited for January to see exactly how he planned to handle things, considering he changed his opinions on so many things that I couldn't even begin to wonder what he would have done. But I do agree with you (so many nickels...) that we, as a nation, need to get our act together and stop being so "glass half empty." We could use this election to try and take more positive steps towards a better future for America. If Congress would stop being such ninnies. |
