@Dagora- C'mon, don't put OP of a pedestal. I enjoy reading it too, but you got to admit Oda isn't above whoring himself out to fans from time to time. Every manga author is guilty of it a bit. I would have hated to see Zoro die in that scene, and while it may be the case that people do sometimes (rarely) survive from certain death scenarios in RL, they hardly ever do so unharmed.

I remember reading a story many years ago about people who survived the death penalty. They all lived from it, but got gimped so badly I wouldn't exactly call what they did after that "living". Faces full of bullet holes so bad your own family doesn't recognize you, lungs half burnt from chemicals, and oh yeah, one guy got electrocuted so hard his eyeballs exploded. Gruesome shit man. I think Zoro layed up in bed a week or so and was pretty much fine after that. Um, okay.

Yeah, sole survivor of 4 and burned on ~35% of my body. No eye damage, surprisingly. I had contacts in and looked back to see flames.

@dagoro, u r just suggesting to look at that particular incident as an honour to zoro, n to think about his respect to luffy. True but Oda should have used some other method over there, dealt with it differently . This Sacrifice thing is bullshit. you know of all the manga's i read OP for me is the best after Magi but you have got to agree, that the scene was stupidly written.

What I got from the whole scene was that it was one of the few times the strawhats were actually in danger. There was a huge threat of another shichibukai and something had to be done or they were all dead.

As to Zoro not dying...it wasn't a "death penalty" just because he said he would die. All Kuma did was swap luffy's pain to zoro.
