So I decided to play Vampires: The Masquerade since it's been sitting in my Steam folder since Halloween. Aaand it crashes as soon as I try and boot it up. So I download the VTMBup842.exe unofficial patch, and I try to run it, but then Windows yells at me that it's some illegal action and then it closes. wat do

Are you trying to run it in Windows Compatibility Mode? (In my experience this just makes things worse) Have you tired running it as an Administrator? Can you post what's displayed in your Task Manager when this error occurs? What happens when you click "Ignore?"

its a fun/ny game to play, but also running it is a bitch. i successfully ran it once, it had to do with changing paths and shyte for that patch and where the game installs, when i figure out how i ran it the first time ill tell u. lol

1 and 2. Don't know, just trying to run it through steam.
3. Task Manager says that vampire.exe is running, but Vampire: Bloodlines isn't. For the patch thing, it says both 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem and C:\Users\Michael\DOWNLO~1\VTMBUP~.EXE are running.
4. After repeatedly clicking ignore, it says other things are not running or whatever, then only the command console is left. And I don't know what to do with that. I'll get screen caps of the different error messages.

In a sign that life is returning to normal, my wife and I have finally begun another co-op game to help us build a stronger marriage. War in the North. Pretty standard slash and loot, nothing too amazing (other than I'm geeking out on the LotR stuff I know and my wife is rolling her eyes). One aspect that I rather like is a relative need to watch each others back. We got into this big goblin fight and both were fairing pretty poorly til we decided to actually stick together... which didn't help our little dwarven ally who runs about like an idiot and has taken 6-fold damage compared to either of us.

Stupid dwarves.
