But what itachi did was necessary to making sasuke strong enough to protect himself with danzou still wanting him dealt with as the last uchiha... All this shows that itachi knew what he was doing putting him on the path of hate and it worked. He is the strongest uchiha since madara and itachi himself...

It is not like itachi did not have a back up plan to keep sasuke from going complete madara by using shisui's eye "kotoamatsukami" to make him the person he was before... And then even to explain to him he failed before not telling him everything, then showing him the truth of himself and the massacre.

in the end, itachi made up for him screwing up sasuke so bad psychologically and now look at sasuke. He is not just charging in, attacking first, asking questions later. He is gathering the info first to determine his path which is the right way....

I agree aitachi would be a really screwed up person if he just set sasuke on his path of hate and vengeance then just left him there... But, because he left the means to make sasuke the person he was again with naruto and even gave him a talk no jutsu along with showing him the truth to change his outlook enough to make him more like itachi, then the hate monster he was before...

EDIT: this chapter and the explanation of the "curse" of the uchiha confirms that kakashi could not of possibly awakened the MS in obito's eye, himself. He is not of the uchiha clan and thus does not have the brain to produce the special chakra to increase the optic nerve, increasing the power of the SG...
SO, it was the telepathic connection obito had with his eye in kakashi that allowed the MS to be awakened not only in his one eye, but the one in kakashi as well...

Were it toned down a bit, I'd actually argue that Hashirama's demeanor would be a solid fit. He's not just "generic wise dude" at least. I dunno, I think I like that Hashirama hides wisdom behind an actual personality, even if it was made a bit too corny for the sake of comic relief. And the fact that the chapter makes it clear that he truly bore no grudges and truly cared for all his comrades, even the Uchiha, makes the messiah-ish comparisons made of him somewhat justified. Just wish he were slightly less silly.

All fair points, just that when it is all about love and loss, Itachi and co had to know how dire a risk they were taking. Should Sasuke feel enough betrayal at what goes on, by this explanation, he should become next to unstoppable. Particularly as Sasuke learns it is his brother's love that guided all this. Who he killed. Heh.

It sets up this Naruto-Sasuke final bond to break battle which kinda is lame but still.

You guys have far better comprehension and memory than I do. I don't remember diddly-squat about the first and second Hokage from their first battle, so I wasn't too bothered by the first being all "lol so randumb XD". I liked the dynamic that the second is a bigot who tried affirmative action, but knew it would eventually backfire anyways. He just wanted to keep the damage to a minimum. Can't really blame him.

And more Itachi wankery. "At the age of seven he was already thinking like a Hokage!" Jeez, can he be any more Gary Stu-perfect? Still, glad to get a little more insight on him. After all, he is kind of the reason so much shit has happened.

I can't see how Sasuke can stay vengeful after all of this. He just found out that the Uchiha are complete assholes (granted, a bigoted authority figure told him this, so eh) and that Itachi's motives were selfless and for the greater good. In the end he's gonna be all "WELL I'MMA AVENGE MY CLAN BECAUSE YOU GUYS ARE POO POO HEADS" and the second Hokage will say "Lol called it." Pretty boring, I think.
