Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

Eh, Bale's problem was that he wasn't a very good Batman. He was a great Bruce Wayne, at least the way I see it. He didn't have the style to really be a superhero, but he was better at acting like a real goddamn human being than most of the people who've ever tried Batman. He had the advantage of a phenomenal supporting cast and the disadvantage of some lazy ass writing.

That said, I can't say I really support an Affleck Batman. I mean, I'm sorry, but when you try to think of big hollywood actors plain and simply incapable of playing a legitimately imposing, threatening, badass goddamn character, he's like 1 step above Leonardo DiCaprio for fuck's sake. Two, at least of the ones I know of, a lot of Affleck's roles pretty much put him as a blue-collar dipshit. So we're looking at someone whose ability to play Batman is kinda in question, and someone who's potentially going to have a rough time of trying to play Wayne.

Now, in a Supes/Batman movie, the interplay between the two matters more than the development of each as, like, semi-realistic actual characters. So at least in this case, the Bruce Wayne doesn't matter as much. But the more they keep the human aspect of the heroes shoved aside for the superhuman, the more you risk making it boring as shit because no one actually gives a fuck about the motivations and such of any of the characters. This is where I think Bale's performance in TDK was lacking as fuck, since Bruce Wayne barely existed. It was all Batman/Joker/Twoface interplay, and Bale wasn't a good Batman. I haven't seen Man of Steel, but the few lines I've heard from Supes' actor were comically badly done.

My two cents.

In regards to the rest of your post, I never thought of it that way; but I agree with you in that Bale was a 100x better Wayne than Batman.

But when you say interplay matters more than the development, I have to disagree for this purpose alone. This is supposed to be the movie that kickstarts JL movie. The WB comes out of this horribly if they have to replace Aflac as Batman. I mean, fans gave Marvel hell for picking Bana and Norton (Norton was a true badass in American History X). They seem to have finally hit a bullseye with Ruffallolo (sp?)... at least the broadside of a barn. But in comparing Batman and the Hulk, you can't say they are equal. The Hulk is not the identity of Marvel. Hell, he's not necessarily a part of the group that people identify Marvel with (many would say that goes to Spidey, Xmen, or Fan 4). But Batman is one of the two characters that everyone identifies DC with.

Quotes for noobs (learn how to break up a quote)
Quote:

So you can post the second bit and i shouldnt be allowed to if i dont tell you? Why be so rude?

Anyways, here is a quotes for noobs guide

1. A basic quote

[*QUOTE][*/QUOTE]

(the * need to be removed for it to work, I put them in so you can see the text) is a basic quote that just wraps something in a quote without saying who quoted it who quoted so

[*QUOTE]this is a quote[*/QUOTE] without any * would look like
Quote:
this is a quote

Edit: there is a button for this, it looks like a speech bubble. If you select text and then press the button the selected text will automatically be wrapped with the quote tag

2. A quote that says who said it

[*QUOTE=who said it][*/QUOTE] this adds who said the post, manually putting that there can be useful when quoting something external. Example:

[*QUOTE=Mangastream]Remember all you sexy bastards out there, Naruto, Bleach, OP, FT, etc. all on break this week. Feel free to take your rage out on us[*/QUOTE] without any * would look like
Quote:

3. A quote that says who said it and links to the post where it was said

[*QUOTE=who said it;X][*/QUOTE]

Where X is the post number.

For the post that i originally quoted it would look like this

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey, how do you break it up please and if your not willingly to tell me, then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]

That is what you get when you press the quote button.

4. Breaking up a quote

Now that you know how quotes work it all boils down to preference, how you want it to look like and how you want to do it.

One way of doing it is copying the latter part of the original quote [*/QUOTE] and then pasting it after each section you break up, write your reply, choose the text you want then paste it after that portion, repeat till you finish the go back and copy then paste the first part of the text at the beginning of each portion of text. Of course you can immediately copy and paste both parts of a poste so that you dont forget one in the end.

The end result would be something like this

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey,[*/QUOTE]
My reply 1
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164] how do you break it up please[*/QUOTE]
my reply 2
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]and if your not willingly to tell me, [*/QUOTE]
my reply 3
[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]
my reply 4

Which without any * would look like

Another way of doing it would be to cut and paste the second part of the quote tag after the first section of text you want to seperate then write your reply select the second part and hit he quote button (it looks like a text bubble),if you do that without anything else the end result would be

[*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164]Ok Stubborn donkey,[*/QUOTE]
My reply 1
[*QUOTE] how do you break it up please[*/QUOTE]
my reply 2
[*QUOTE]and if your not willingly to tell me, [*/QUOTE]
my reply 3
[*QUOTE]then please DONT offer me no advice in future[*/QUOTE]
my reply 4

Which would look like

Quote:

my reply 4

To make it like the previous example (which wpuld be preferred, though not necessary ) copy the part that says who posted with the link to the post and paste it accordingly to the proper part in each first half of each quote tag. In my I would copy =minato uchiha;2118164 and paste it where the # is
[*QUOTE#] to get [*QUOTE=minato uchiha;2118164] (of course with the * removed)

Of course you can use any other method you like to get to the end result, but now that you know what the end rwsult looks like I think there shouldnt be any problems

What's the fallacy in going on dollar amounts?

Batman Begins grossed over $206M as of July 2012. The Dark Knight grossed over $534M as of July 2012. The DKR grossed over $448M as of December 2012.

Considering that the Ironman triology is the only one close to Nolan's success (all of the X-men movies thus far still don't get close), once again, where is the fallacy. Ironman grossed over $318M as of October 2008. IM 2 grossed over $312M as of August 2010. IM 3 grossed over $408M as of August 2013.

This is an objective measure, not a subjective one.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

Speaking of movies; I just got back from watching The Mortal Instrument: City of Bones. What a waste of money.

I never read the book(s) or anything, so I only had the previews and a synopsis I read online to go by. I was expecting it to be something along the lines of Hellboy in the sense of it being a halfway comical and family friendly supernatural thriller. Instead I watched watered down version Twilight, with a different back story and cast consisting of fake goth teenyboppers.

spoilers because I care.
The main villian looked like one of those guys from the Back Street Boys and he has two fail ass assistants that might as well be named Tweedledum and Tweedledee. Basically what Draco Malfoy and his two goons would look like in their 30's. Of all the countless supernatural lifeforms that are hinted at, you only get to see demons, vampires, and werewolves. So much for diversity. Then again of all the dozens of magic tatoo's everyone had, they only used 2 or 3. And the main character chick stole here demon heritage storyline from Sam Winchester on Supernatural...and Sam did it better.

Bottom line: It looked like a "made for TV movie" you might expect to see on TBS or some shit. As soon as it ended I snuck into the room down the hallway. It was only 10 or so minutes into Elysium which was immensely better.

Seriously though, Biebs is marketed towards tween and teenage girls. Nolan's trilogy was marketed towards young adults and older.

Edit:
And hell, I'm surprised you didn't throw in Larry the Cable Guy.

If its truly like Twilight but even more stupid, I just might start a riot and go berserk. Books are better btw.

I'm still pissed at Peter Jackson for not including Tom Bombadil in the LOTR movies.

Seriously, the bad thing about books, is the reading. More specifically the time to read. I'm not a speed reader, but if I get into a book, I literally zone out. That's the reason I haven't read any of the Game of Thrones books. I'm a big mythical lore fan when it comes to reading, and I would probably avoid my family altogether if I were to start reading that series.

Sorry for the double post, but this is back to the Batman topic, kinda....

http://wallstcheatsheet.com/stocks/t...luthor.html/2/

Word is now that Aflac has a multi-year deal, which could include Aflac having creative direction over a Justice League movie... definitely not my cup of tea. But on to some good news.... Bryan Cranston seems to be the targeted person to play Lex Luthor.

Heh. Pissed over Tom Bombadil? What the hell would that have added to the movie beyond 20 more minutes of next to nothing happening? The movie was hard enough to make without it being bogged down more. It's a nice scene but woefully unnecessary and trust me, I'm the biggest LotR fan I know.

Mainly Bombadil's song. Just like the Misty Mountains Cold song literally put chill bumps on my arms when I first heard it, Bombadil's song could have possibly done the same for me. I know... nerd moment for me, but still.
