It's best to let sleeping dogs lie.

Also, I know the feeling. I took a semester of Japanese, but you lose it very quickly if you don't use it constantly. I still remember hiragana and some Kanji, though.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

I've always been interested in learning Japanese, but I could never find a program at any of the schools I've been to that offered it. The most exotic language class offered by the high school I went to in California was Armenian. I'll probably buy Rosetta Stone when I can afford it.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

The only thing that's kinda ruining this heart warming event is those fags who are getting on the soapbox to talk about global warming. Fuck sakes you guys it's just a cute Hurricane passing by from Siberia, Don't get your life rafts and rain boots ready just yet.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

Global warming gives Britain warmer summers, and gives Egypt fucking snow.

I fail to see the bad side here. I mean, a few polar bears died or whatever but who cares. Fuck polar bears.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

To be honest, you could argue that the major negative issues of global warming are only the loss of coastal cities, a few desert places getting even shittier, and loss of biodiversity.

Benefits are more efficient crops, Waterworld, no fucking polar bears and British people finally shutting the fuck up about the weather.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

Whatever global warming causes, it's certainly not going to wipe out humanity. We've developed far past the point where at least a sizable number of us will survive whatever natural disaster Earth can throw at us. For us to die out completely now would take something massive that we couldn't see coming like a large asteroid, all-out nuclear war or the Usain Bolt of viruses.

Of course most people who die will be in the developing world, but they had pretty shitty lives anyway, right?

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

Yeah actually death by a natural catastrophe would be an act of mercy towards the vast majority around this shit hole of a country. In fact there are studies surfacing recently about a Mediterranean Tsunami hitting the middle east in the few upcoming years. Would probably get caught in it myself if it happened since i live only 200 meters away from the coast.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

Yeah. Global Warming can't do shit to us... Except for the warming oceans that could cause massive die outs of phytoplankton which are responsible for the majority of the atmospheric oxygen which could lead to massive alterations of ecosystems and carbon cycles.

Oh and the changing weather patterns causing potential loss of vital farmland that we're already overfarming as it is.

Oh and droughts causing loss of key fresh water supplies to certain areas.

But, y'know. Other than THAT, we got this.

EDIT: Wait, forgot to add increase load of pathogens and parasites, which should be a boon to their evolution and help create higher instances of pandemics.

Re: The Longest Thread Ever v28

It would be absolutely devastating, yeah, but I was talking about just bare minimum survival. As inhospitable as the Earth got I think there would be at least some number of people that would survive in fancy pants biodomes or bunkers, or maybe leave the planet entirely if possible.
