Geniuses in the series Naruto are determined by their strength and advantages in a battle. People who are geniuses usually have a special advantage in Taijutsu, Ninjutsu, or Genjutsu. They could also have a special bloodline limit trait passed down from generation to generation in a clan. Below are some people who are considered geniuses.
Chouji - Chouji is a Genius because of his family’s bloodline-limit which allows him, through the ingestion of specialist soldier pills and natural talent, to manipulation his body mass. He is able to dramatically increase his body to gigantic proportions as well as manipulate his individual limb’s length and size in a fight. However, this rare talent uses up his body’s fat reserves very fast in exchange for converting it into huge amounts of chakra. When the soldier pills are added as a last resort, Chouji’s strength can increase in excess of a hundred times his original strength.
Gaara - As a child, Gaara was made into a Jinchuuriki for the Shukaku and thus has large chakra reserves. Also, through a jutsu performed on Gaara as a newborn, he has the sand-barrier. This sand is enriched with chakra, which makes it very strong. As Jinchuuriki Gaara was shunned by his village and feared as a monster combined with chronic insomnia (a side-effect of Shukaku), he becomes mentally unstable. Attempts were made to kill him, but they all failed. This ends up making Gaara angry and to believe the only way he can gain pleasure to do kill others just like how people tried to kill him. Gaara shows absolutely no remorse when he kills.
Gai - Gai is able to perform a large number of advanced and complex jutsus as well as summoning. But his main strength lies in his belief in himself, his advanced mastery of Taijutsu, and the ability to perform the Primary Lotus. His skill level is very high and through constant hard work, dedication, and practice, he is stronger and faster than Kakashi.

Kakashi - Kakashi was a genius before he was gifted the Sharingan by his dying friend Obito. He is the only son of Konoha’s legendary White Fang, who is said to have been on par with the Sannin. Taught by Yodaime, Kakashi is an expert at seals, advanced levels of Ninjutsu, Taijutsu and Genjutsu. His strength comes from his loyalty to his village and his protection of his friends. With the Sharingan, Kakashi has copied over a thousand jutsus and is able to read an enemy’s movements and possible actions before they have completed their move.

Naruto - Naruto has the powers of the Kyubi (Nine-tailed demon fox) within him. This immense power of the Kyubi gives him a big advantage when he can tap into it. The power of the Kyubi also heals most of his wounds instantly.

Neji - Neji is the carrier of the Byakugan bloodline limit. The Byakugan gives Neji 360 degrees vision, which means he can see things behind him. It also allows Neji to see the chakra point of his opponents. With his special power Neji can sense attacks from any direction and also prevent the chakra flow of his opponent.

Rock Lee - Rock Lee has the uncommon disadvantage of being unable to use any Genjutsu or Ninjutsu techniques. However, under Gai’s training, hard work, dedication, and an unwavering goal, Lee was able to become a Taijutsu combat specialist. He is dubbed by his Sensei as the “Genius of hard work�. His speed and strength are immense and under Gai’s supervision. He was taught the Forbidden technique: Primary Lotus (The Eight Celestial Inner Gates). This technique is so rare and dangerous that we know of only Gai and Lee who have been able to master it. Kakashi said in the Chuunin exams that Lee was a Genius because of this.

Sasuke - Sasuke is considered a genius because of the Sharingan bloodline he carries from the Uchiha Clan. The Sharingan gives him an advantage because he can copy his opponents moves and use it against them.

Shino - Shino is part of the Aburame Clan. This clan has a special bloodline with insects. They can summon destructive bugs as weapons in battle to suck away their opponents chakra away.
