Tips on finding a Wii or whatever other system you want

First of all, don't go to those sites like wiiseeker.com and wiitracker.com and the like. Hell, don't even look in this thread for constant updates on how to get a Wii or anything of the like. Any information you find will be 12 hours old at the very least and all the systems will be gone. You want to get a gaming system? Here's how:

If you go into an EBGames or Target or anywhere that sells the system, then don't expect any information from the people that work there. They will say the same thing: "Sorry, we don't know when we'll be getting our next shipment. There might be some next week." Something along those lines will be told to you with an exhasperated tone and a far off look like the employee would rather be jumping into a pile of shit than talking to you.

So what do you do? Easy. Find out when their last shipment came. For example, say Wal-Mart got a bunch of Wiis in today. Too bad they're all gone... Basically, these big stores will get about 20 or so systems per week on an almost weekly basis. That means that in exactly 7 days, that store will likely get another shipment.

Try and break a deal about reserving one, even if the store supposively doesn't "do" that sort of thing. (They normally do, but only under extenuating circumstances.) Claim that your neighbor was able to reserve a Wii for their last shipment and that you think you should be able to get one too. Remember, be nice about it and don't kick up a stink. Play up the "I'm a sad lonely person that just wants a ___ system to have a little happiness in my life" angle.

If they still say no, ask politely to talk to the manager. Repeat the same process. If they still say no, then move on and apologize for wasting their time. Ask if you can at least get a phone call when they find out they get them. They most likely will agree to that much to appease you.

Move on to another store and repeat. You will eventually get a console. However, keep in mind that it's almost 100% luck. You might have a better shot if you have a very likeable older figure, such as a wiley grandmother or grandfather. They are usually able to jerk the heart strings of employees much better.

Happy hunting.
