I wanna preface this by saying I only skimmed most posts, so if what I'm saying was mostly addressed, MY BAD.

The biggest issue with this is what SD brushed up on: this requires massive amounts of regulation. While I agree that Marijuana has some benefits, it's negative affects [ACt covered them] can outweigh the plus side to regular use. hints of narcissism

And that's why I'd argue they're illegal in the first place, along with other drugs like X, heroine and cocaine. Not necessarily side effects, but also that there is so little confirmed research when dealing with these sorts of drugs. Not because they're not happening, But because the studies tend to have strong biases in either direction, or are perceived to because of people like this fuck [the name dodges me right now, I'll repost/link when I remember] who was switching out samples for a relatively low-stakes upper with Acid, and was all LOL LEWK HOW MUCH IT FUCKS UR BRAIN.

I'm fully on the side that a lot of drugs should be legal if regulated, because it is an individual decision. However, the trade we make with our government is personal freedoms in place of protection. You could hype this up to be some big conspiracy theory to milk money out of the system or whatever, but drug regulation exists not just to stop people from hurting others while under the influence, but also themselves. Which is why the biggest issue with legalized drug use is, or at least should be, this: "where do we as the government draw the line, and for what reasons?"

There needs to be a limit, unless we as a people want to remove all liability from the government. We couldn't fairly, as a people, blame them if things go awry when we give them a boot and say NO PLZ LEEV IT ALL TO US WE GOT DIS. With that in mind, what then is the limit? Is it all drugs? When is it enough...the "fair amount? What's the safest way we could distribute this to the people? Until these have answers, marijuana and "other such drugs" should not be legalized.

Unless of course you would like the government to remove their hand as much as possible, and be involved in the most minimal way possible [fucking Capitalism], then the people can by no means expect protection from any resulting chaos that may or may not occur. This is the same reason I'm so opposed to fucking fatties trying to sue big companies for their health issues. Or even stupid shit like that one broad that sued McDonalds 'cause she spilled her coffee in her lap, or that dude the burned his mouth on a Hot Pocket. People shouldn't misplace blame for their own safety. Hot pockets are fucken hot, so don't shove one in your mouth right away. If you order a HOT coffee, the likelihood of it scalding your thighs if you take that turn like you're in fucken NASCAR, then that's your bad. Subsequently, if you want to drop some Acid and proceed to jump off a roof, that was your problem.
