I hope I'm putting this in the right section. I put in the right or wrong thing to make it fit in better. But anyways. Here's my problem. I like to post drawings on Gaia, and I'm sure that lots of you do too. But Gaia, and I'm sure LOTS of other sites and people will say, that copied art isn't or shouldn't be allowed.
But, I understand that if somebody denies the fact that he/she copied another picture and claming the drawing for themselves, even if they did redraw it. But is it so wrong if somebody drew a picture off an already created image and clearly states that he/she had copied it from another picture? Personally, I don't think it's too big of a deal if they say that they had used an already created image. I would never give credit to myself for drawing something that was already created. Isn't that like, some sort of copy right law? I dunno. I want opinions and other perspectives on this, please.

what lufia said...if you clearly make a disclaimer or something that yours is a copy and the original was by such and such a person, there should be no problems.

think of it as like citing your sources in a paper.

If I draw a picture of Naruto, does that mean I have to give credit to Kishimoto; because Naruto belongs to him? No.
If I draw a picture of someone else's fanart, I don't think I would need to give credit to them. I mean, I wouldn't say that "Yeah, I drew it." I would say, "I copied it"
But I wouldn't say that I have to give credit to someone. Copyright law is only liable by those who copyright what they create.
If I write a story, and post it on the internet; without it being copyrighted, anyone can steal it, and I can't do diddly-squat about it. It's wrong, but nothing can be done in reality.

Copied art is not allowed on Gaia at all. The rules do not change because you admit to copying. Copied art is still a form of art theft, and you are warned not to post any more copied art as it is a bannable offense.
