OK - I think I have established that I don't generally understand this twitter craze, even though it seems to be infecting everything. But I picked this little piece of news off the "trending" panel on Yahoo!

So my brain starts to think - 'planking'? what the hell is that?

I'm kinda thinking it is something extreme, maybe even fun because I believe the Australians also gave us the idea of Zorbing which is going downhill in a big plastic bubble that is partly full of water.

Do a little research... and what do I find Planking is? Lying face down in unusual places in public. Seriously. Here are some examples:

Seriously. That's it. And a guy died doing it. Polish up the Darwin award because I don't think they'll get dumber than that. Holy crap. What is going on down there... what ever happened to normal fads like pogs, Rubik's cube revivals, pogo balls or just doing drugs like a normal youth?

What a bunch of pillocks. Was in the german news as well that one person died lying face down. Fell from some high building or some shit. Must be some kind of natural selection to sort out those who are not suited to carry on the human gene. Therefore I like this darwin award ACt.

Am I reading this wrong, or is this guy implying that drinking and driving isn't dangerously stupid, and is instead a random thing for fun?
