I guess this jutsu is what gave Yondaime the title The yellow flash.

Description:
"Flight across space and time completed in a flash-like instant!!"
"Swiftness that surpasses Shunshin!"
Yondaime Hokage's jutsu, the reason for his alias "Yellow Flash"! His high-speed
movement over long distances...it is really "space-time movement".
To activate the jutsu, he needs a "jutsu-shiki" to mark the destination.
Yondaime applies a "jutsu-shiki" to weapons such as kunai in advance. It is also
possible to leave it in a touched area, and when it is engraved on an enemy's
body, it becomes a curse seal with a sentence of death!

Yondaime is truly a genius. I thought that he had uber speed but it turned out to be a jutsu that he uses. I wonder how fast he still is without this jutsu.

um i think gai is faster cuz gai doesnt use a jutsu and gai is pure training and i doubt yondaime trained as extensively as gai does for his tai jutsu

I think that because Yondaime was strong enough to be Hokage, he's probably better than Gai.

Wow that's pretty awesome. So then, in the manga when he gets thsoe kunais ready to face the enemies... Wow that's kool.

So who's faster?? Well if yondaime has a spot already marked then yeah... he's faster... If he doesn't then Gai is lol.

... why are ppl saying using a jutsu cheating? jutsu is a very very very big part of the anime, With the jutsu Yondiame is probably faster than gai or even with him when gai has all gates open, but in normal speed, gai is probably faster

yondaime, definatly, he has hokage level powers, its natural he has hokage level speed. plus, well, there's nothing else to be said, we havent seen alote of him in action..

umm lee calls himself the beatuilful green beast and gai is the blue. also Gai could unlcok all of the gates. because the last gate is the gate of death
