Learn HTML, then buy a domain, buy webhosting, and put your site online.

HTML is easy but most people are too cheap to buy hosting
http://www.host4free.info/ - best place for free hosting

What do you mean set it up? You mean the site itself? Placing things in HTML are usually done by Divisions or Table.. (I use Divisions). It's up to you really.
Here is a Div Tag: <div id="Other Info" style="float:right; padding:10px; text-align:left; border:1px solid #000000; width:389px; height:300px; z-index:5"> You place anything you want to go inside this Div, change the units in the above code to move this div around, this div is like a box in a sense. </div> You can use these in HTML to place things inside. About keeping it updated, you simply uload your site, after some time when you need to update it, you just edit it through FTP or.. upload the updated stuff. :/ Good Luck. ummm dosu, you just said that because our site is a .be the domian, .com .net .be etc... has nothing to do with how hard or advance the site is. SEcond of all, you have to have technoligy studeis, and practive a few times a week to mater html codes for a real domian, the freewebs is more of a blog, its terrible, just for nOObs.

that's why you have a membership, right? *Pwned.* Anyway, a few times a week is ok if you like to go at "The Complete Idiot's" pace, and I mean no offense to anyone, since i was referring to the book series. Anyway, it's not hard to find an online Primer course, I believe that there was.. a.. w3schools.com or something like that, they had a load of web dev. courses done in primers(daily basis), so you'd have basic HTML done in 1-2 days. The website domain does actually affect your coding, but it's a more advanced thing so you don't need to worry about it. a free host is good, especially to upload files and tinker around with things. freewebs.com is what I used a few years ago, then I stopped using hosts altogether. Your own pace should be something to consider, if you're someone who'll give this stuff a shot once or twice a week, you're not cut out for it. Unless you want to wait until you're 50. A few times a day, on a holiday is good. School is something to consider, I know, since I had to stop web dev. altogether since school got quite demanding. I'd say, for HTML, try out w3schools, and then move onto the things recommended in there. |

I don't quite know where this conversation is going, so I will try and close all the holes. 1. Domain Name A TLD(top level domain) such as .com .net and .org can be purchased for as little as US$5.99 by anyone who has a credit/debit card. Owning one of these does not make your site instantly great.2. Hosting You said you already had a host. Talk to them about placing your website onto their server. Despite what everyone here is saying, you need to start somewhere and freewebs, or any other free host for that matter, is as good a place as any. If you do in fact create a decent website, which you won't your first time around, then people will host you for free. Even NarutoFan's webservers are free for them(html-wise). They only pay to host the media.3. HTML issue While the web pretty much revolves around this simple scripting language which can be taught to just about anybody in 30 minutes, in this day an age you don't need to know it. Grant it you will, but not for your first site. You can use a web design program such as Macromedia Dreamweaver or Microsoft Frontpage(both of which have free trial downloads on their websites) to create simple webpages to see if running a site is really for you Web design and maintenance isn't for the faint of heart and it takes years to master and something truly original. If you want a site like narutofan or narutocentral you could make it in about 2 weeks. However, your first site is going to suck. They always do. It has a easy learning curve and you will be able to get the hang of it rather quickly if you really want to own a site. Although, I always say, if you have to ask then you shouldn't be doing it. It is called google.com and it works wonders for things like this. |

If you have access to PHP and MYSQL I suggest getting a Content Manageing System such as Subdreamer.
Here is a video of me demoing it out for you to see the features and ease of use Otherwise, you can easily use templates and modify them and just add text in a program such as dreamweaver. As far as hosting and such goes, I use godaddy.com. greatest site ever. Last edited by Freshgrease; 03-26-2006 at 10:54 PM. |

It's not easy, if you're asking this question you can autoimatically assume it'll be impossible for you. The first thing you need to do is learn HTML then after you do that you can take higher steps.
