Saauke.Slow?

I was just wondering if Sasuke was supose to be a genius then why did he graduate the same year as Naruto the loser who failed so many times. or else naruto should be alot older that sasuke...

I was wondering the same thing, he failed 'graduation' 3 times... Unless it was a translation error, and meant that he "failed 3 times." (I'm almost positive it was 3 times)

EDIT: Failed 3 times as in, like 3 tests or something.

we still don't know how long ninja academy last, probaly not a year though. Naruto did not pass whatever test you had to pass to grad from academy student to genin. Sasuke did, which means he probaly started ninja academy later than Naruto. More than likely there is more than one test a year, like the chuunin exams.

ummm....they flew through ninja academy like the geniuses they are. Kakashi and Itachi are far from Naruto and Sasuke.

Its possible that they exceeded expectations of a acadamy student. you must remember that itachi was able to do the fireball jutsu the first atempt at a younger age and sasuke is not at a high level genius like them. At an age thats a years older than sasuke kakashi became a jounin and itachi was anbu leader. So basically they were enter earlier and they were worthy of graduating the first year.

Times changed. The academy doesn't work like it does back then with students like Kakashi and Itachi.

i agree with toshi. the academy prolly upgraded its teaching regimin so its more advance for students. but you cant deny kakashi and itachi's skill. kakashi and itachi were far more talented back then then neji and sasuke are now. kakashi and itachi can be said to be once in 100 year ninja born prodigies. sasuke and neji are just advance becuase of their bloodline limit and that they are just above their class members by just a favorable pace. kakashi and itachi were most likely light years ahead from their class.

Because Kakashi trained during the warring periods, and Konoha needed all the help it could get.

And the way the school worked probably didn't change until after Itachi graduated.

ok this might explain some things....in one of the flash backs it shows naruto messing up the bunshin(this is kiba's flash back) it looks like kiba just entered the academy while naruto's been there a while. when kiba was there i didnt see sasuke. in fact i think the only other people were shika and chouji, but i think they came later, but we often see the five of them together. of course the whole thing is off cuz we see them together even when they are very young, so we can assume that the academy has different classes sorta like from kindergarten to fifth grade and u can graduate at any level...so maybe naruto failed in second grade, failed in third grade, and failed in fourth grade..and finally passed along with everyone else.

Plot hole!!

I figured that they just threw the term genius around pretty freely. Heck, Temari's a genius of weapons, and Rock Lee is a genius of hard work. Sasuke's really only a genius thanks to the Sharingan.
