How does one become an Anbu

Everyone knows about the Anbu but how do u become one because wouldn't Kakashi become a Anbu with in the three years or Gai since all of his students are Jounins now.

i guess they have a choice and they have to like prove themselves worthy and strong enough enough. basically i think its like going up yet another lvl.

o.O maybe you have to be picked out by the hokage. isn't there a job thats higher then the hokage? isn't it the ANBU?

i heard the anbu come to you if they think u r good enuff, and u prolly have a choice, and gais students are not all jounins, plus kakashi was once in the anbu also.

DSM - i think hokage and ANBU missions are at the same level (S level)

ANBU are picked out by the ANBU squads, and I think also the hokage. Since ANBU classify in assassination, i would think the hokage would also have to be part of picking who's on the squad.

there are many types of anbu missions and different anbu groups, like the anbu roots for example, or the interrogation group that the 1st examiner was in.
