Very good episode. The scene where Kushina tells Minato she's pregnant is too cute for words. Double feature next episode! Hope to keep this momentum of good episodes going.

Wow great episode. The extra dialogue adds nicely to it. I cant wait for the awesome fight in the next episode.

Human Rasengan

Great episode.. opening with that attack.. Sage art Rasengan Barrage had more impact here than it did in the manga.. the pacing of the story was done great as well. The added detail and foreshadowing in this episode was done nicely as well. The fact that Uzushiogakure was destroyed during a time of war explains a lot about why they were wiped out.. did you see that whirlpool elder seal that beast!

The ninja system gets back in the picture too. Even tho the whirlpoool village are blood relatives of the Senju .. it seems almost that they werre treated as a branch family similar to the Hyuuga. The way Hashirama was looking on during that whirlpool ninja's sealing technique.. I saw a glint of power lust in his eye... like he found a new weapon to assert Leaf dominance.. Then there's the bringing of women from the sister village to be used as vessels for the Kyuubi.

But whats this stuff about Minato learning sealing techniques from Kushina's mother?? and I'm a little confused about when the transfer of power went from Hiruzen to Minato.. just before Kushina is in the cave Hiruzen and Biwako seemed to be ordering Kushina and Minato and then in the cave Biwako tells Minato ..."you're the Fourth Hokage so act like one!"

This brings back that stuff Motoi said about the Jinchuriki being closely tied to whoever the Kage is ..

My best guess as to why Hiruzen was giving orders to Minato is because Hiruzen was still a very respected ninja in the village, was the first Hokage that was able to retire, and still held great influence in the village. It was probably decided that in terms of Kushina, Hiruzen would have final say in matters involving her and the security of the village, because Minato's feelings for his wife could possibly cloud his judgement and his actions.

Which, seeing as how Minato at one point was more concerned about Kushina's pain than containing the kyuubi, would make sense. I have nothing to back this up, other than speculation. But an arrangement like I described makes the most sense to me.

Nothing wrong with getting advice from someone like the 3rd hokage.. Presidents get advice from people all the time, also seeing your wife in labor is tough(i know).. Seeing someone you love going through pain and theres nothing you can do about it... sucks.

i just cant wait to see minato kick some ass.. big 4th fan

theres nothing wrong with a leader having advisors but as you see here Hiruzen was making orders.. if the Kage is the leader of the village then they are the ones to give orders to ninja beneath them and here we clearly see Hiruzen giving orders.

We see Tsunade getting advice from the konaha elders but she still makes the decisions

I think that when you have been the Hokage for as long as Sarutobi, and you pass the Hokage title on to a young, first year Hokage, it would be normal to give that new Hokage orders on such matters as giving birth with a kyuubi in the belly, something that threatens the whole village and their ninja world balance of jinjuriki. Sarutubi had knowledge of this being done before, and far more experience than Minato could ever dream of. Minato's opinion would be worthless, compared to his, on this matter.


Tsnade has a more demanding and dominant personality than Minato. But I would expect she would take the same order from Sarutobi, especially if she was as young Minato was. In that situation, Orochumaru is the only one that I can see letting the title and power and his ego go to his head and doing this his way, regardless what Sarutobi says.

Well Sarutobi was still a boss in the Orichimaru/Sand vs Konoha attack. So about 10 or years before he'll still be a frigging ace ninja. My guess is the only reason Minato became Hokage, was the 3rd had enough and there were ace ninjas strong enough to take on the role i.e Minato, so may as well move over in terms of strength.

In terms of advice and ninja politics, that's something you can only get with experience and the 3rd was clearly fully immersed in all that. Also the Sarutobi would still be reffered to as 3rd even if he wasn't current kage, most likely Minato would still hold him with utmost respect and probably would treat Sarutobi's (any reasonable) requests as orders.

Oh also I don't like how Naruto got to meet his parents, its nice to have flashbacks and explanations of things but all this "I've left a bit of my chakra in you to transmit a delayed message" is too convinient and cheesy for my liking.
