For those who don't know what circumcision is

Circumcision is the procedure that cuts some or all of the foreskin (prepuce) from the penis. The frenulum may also be cut away at the same time, in a procedure called a frenectomy. The word "circumcision" comes from Latin circum (meaning "around") and caedere (meaning "to cut").-taken from wikipedia

How do you feel about circumcision and do you feel that it does more good than harm? Also should parents decide if they get circumcised at birth?


Please, I repeat, this is not a sexual topic so please don't turn it into that. Please refrain from describing your physical acts with the opposite gender unless it is neccesary or you will be subject to spamming. Your allowed to say if it causes problems for you with intercourse but please refrain from describing everything you did in detail. There are kids under 18 on this site and also no one wants to hear that in here.

Personally I agree with circumcision. I was circumcised at birth and I had no adverse effects from it that I know of. I do not feel pain or discomfort at any time and I have yet to see any negative consequences.

Over the years circumcision rates have been fluctuating over the past years with periods of rises and declines. Some people feel it is up to the child to decide when they get older, some believe it causes less health problems later down the road.

It could go either way. I mean there is not really any beneficial means to get circumcision unless the foreskin was incrediably tight through early childhood. Although those that never went through the process of circumcision, may have to clean down there more carefully because the semega (or how ever you spell) would build up more quickly.

i dont care too much as its up to the person/parent but it is good and practical todo it to a male baby for practical reasons

Pros:

-> Circumcision lowers your son’s chances of getting a urinary tract infection (UTI) in the first year of life.
-> Although a rare condition, cancer of the penis is essentially eliminated in circumcised males.
-> Research shows that males who are circumcised have a slightly lower risk of getting sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
Circumcision eliminates foreskin infection that occur at the peak ages of 3 to 5 years.
-> Circumcision prevents phimosis, a narrow opening that makes it impossible to retract the foreskin at a later age.
-> Genital hygiene, which is particularly important in unsanitary conditions, may be easier after circumcision.

Cons:

-> As with all kinds of surgery, circumcision has some risks. Although uncommon, complication such as local infection and bleeding can occur as a result of the circumcision. On rare occasions, the foreskin may be cut too short or too long, or circumcision may heal improperly. Since many parents see circumcision as a cosmetic procedure, they choose not to have their son exposed to these risks.
-> Many view the foreskin as an important part of the human body that is necessary for the protection of the penis. If the foreskin is removed, the exposed end of the penis may become irritated and cause the opening of the penis to become too small. This may cause difficulty in urination and may need to be surgically corrected.
-> Many also believe that the removal of the foreskin can desensitize the tip of the penis, causing a decrease in sexual pleasure later in life.
-> Almost all uncircumcised Boys can be taught proper hygiene that can lower their chances of getting infections, cancer of the penis, and sexually transmitted diseases.

i got circumcised in the first year of life and im perfectly fine........it really depends on how good the surgeron is.....

and also ethier way your taking risk so it depends on wich risk you prefere

I agree with it, both my brothers and my dad were...it also says so in the Bible....Abraham did it to his son Isaac.

that's my personal opinion anyways...but like some have said, there are some risks...my younger got an infection (we had a REALLY bad surgeon) then 3 months later, he needed to have it redone. he is okay now tho!!!

Yah, it depends how good the surgeon is, I got circumcised when I was 5 and I was awake through the whole thing... not a pleasant experience. =/ But everything went well.

I am against it, why, WHY would you cut something off of there? Just clean it well and you'll be fine. That is like cutting off your toe to make sure it does not get an ingrown toe-nail.

i got circumsisde when i was a baby and its fine study shows more males today are circumsised than non plus you have less chance of catching cancer or some infection.

The controversy, and hence the need for a debate, arises when you realize that many doctors are circumcising babies automatically... Plus, in most countries, female circumcision is illegal, but male circumcision is considered to be okay.

As long as the parents know and can decide, I don't have a problem with it. (Then again... What if a person is circumcised and they wish that they weren't? What happens then?)

Well i was circumcized when i was 8 or 7 and it hurt a lot soo I suggest that it becomes a law to be circumcized at birth since its a lot easier

I'm pro-circumcision. I myself was circumcised when I was a baby, so I don't remember a thing about it. Anyways, I haven't had any problems in that area since I was circumcised, so I don't pay too much mind to it.
