They did found it last year, the thing was they didn't have enough certainty if it was Higgins Boson or a Boson with similar properties. Only now they were able to confirm that it was indeed the boson predicted by the Standard Model.

Sort of. The article states that, while it is confirmed as a Higgs (the lack of spin and parity match what they predicted for a Higgs), they aren't 100% on it being the Higgs predicted by the Standard Model or a lighter boson. They still need to see how it interacts with other particles to determine if it's the Standard Model Higgs or not.

Wait... its still not know if its Standard Model or not, so its a "could".
