I don't kno if this is true for all chrstians, but my friend who is of big christian faith, but also loved the Harry Potter books and owned all of them, ended up reading somewhere that lightning bolts were connected to the devil and so on and so forth, and harry had a massive lightning bolt on his forehead so he's connected to Satan. So she ended up throwing out all of her Harry Potter books, to which she then told her other friend of huge christian faith, too which she too threw out all of her harry potter books. =T sooo that's all I know.
I don't know where your friend read this, but that is the bigist piece of stupidity I've ever heard(and I live in alabama so thats saying something) Lightning has nothing to do with the devil it is a force of nature, to be admired and respected yes, but thinking that it is connected to the devil makes no sense. Tell your friend to do a little more reading before throwing away good literature.

If lightning is the devil, you should throw out Naruto since Kakashi use lightning...

But please, reading HP will not trigger witchery practice.. If that what those folks thinks....

When kluang finds you creepy and wrong then you are beyond horrible.

He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Being Malaysian is about driving in a German car to an Indian restaurant for an Indonesian food, then travelling home, grabbing a Pakistani kebab on the way, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV. Because we have no originality.

They're not they're trying to relate it to witchcraft, which is completly ridiculos since as you said it's a fiction book and not based on the practice of wicca or anyother Magick and Earth based faith, as Rowling has stated hundreds of times.

Satan, or whichever name you wish to give "the Debil" was the brightest in the sky or the lord of the air. He was accociated with the sky and as how the lighting "falls" (though it is actualy going up) I could see how someone could make that mistake.......... stupid reason to toss good books...

did she at least donate them somewhere?
