Alright heres the deal, I live in a world ruled by logic and good judgement. I let my common sense and logical thinking skills take charge of my life so that i dont have to do anything extra or do anything stupid for that matter (with the exception of this thread)... I feel as if im living in a world of people who think they can fight logic with persistence and stupidity and i slowly feel my logic and already damaged IQ deteriorating.... anywho tell me what you think of this little story of how my morning went


Okay, its 7 am and im woken up by my..."mother" and im very annoyed and anti-social at this moment. She tells me whats going to happen. "okay you have an early doctor's appointment today about your sleeping problem, so im going to be picking you up from school at 10am". I tell her "Do i sound like im able to go to school right now? and you might as well just let me sleep till 10am and come pick me up from home it doesn't make sense for me to go then leave before im counted present" So she argues that i should go and calls her boyfriend to see if he can talk me into doing something as troublesome as this.

She puts the phone by my ear while my eyes are still closed and im half dead and he spits nonsense like "you're not going to be there for long, you can do it, come on get ready to go" Its around this point i think to myself " thats the problem... whats the jist in doing this?" So i tell him a completely factual statement i know off the top of my head and say "id have to stay untill 11am(half the day) in order for them to count me as present... if i went now not ONLY would i not be able to function due to getting only one hour of sleep but id be wasting my time and the schools' by showing up for classes im going to be counted absent from and interrupting them by leaving in the middle of them." (gee aren't i a nice guy?)

He argue's with this flawless logic (in my opinion) and says "No they'd count you if you told them you had a doctors appointment" in which i grab the phone and say" no ma'am, harry, it'd be an excused absence the classes still wouldn't count, which even if they did, it's an excused absence i should just stay home untill the appointment cuz im so tired" at this point he still says i should go cuz of something about leprachauns and zebras... at least thats what i heard. Im just so tired of talking logic at this point i turn over in my bed, toss the phone behind me and prepare myself for a nice yelling at from my mom whilst i try to go back to sleep.

My school starts at 8:30 so id be staying roughly an hour and a half or less untill i had to leave, which is clearly not long enough to be counted present for the whole day or any of the classes. If you're not there long enough to be counted for the whole day, they wont count any of the classes you attended either. I told her " i bet even the school would ask me why the hell i bothered showing up today". So it's around this time she gets that it'd be a waste to drive me there, drive to work, leave work, then pick me up from school at 10am and have them count me as absent since i didn't stay a consecutive half day.

This is where the story gets irrational... She calls her boyfriend and tells him that we worked it out and that either way im going to be counted absent so i might as well not go. Since the phone is so loud i can hear that he says "well he should go to school, and they can count him for the time he was there for". When i heard this i just smiled and laughed slightly with my head still buried in my pillow but, my mom doesn't know how to use logic to show idiots how stupid they're being so she just caved and the conversation ended with "ill be there in 20 minutes."

now later i finally get out of bed and call him on my mom's phone cuz i have no idea where mine is. He picks up and greets me with "hey baby" to which i raise my eyebrow and reply with "hey honey, i think you've out-grown me just a tad". Anyways he knew who it was by then.... im hoping. I try to talk sense into him by telling him yet AGAIN that it doesn't work the way he said it. I would just be counted absent for the whole day, they wouldn't count ANY of it, unless i was to stay there for a consecutive "half day" (8:30-11am 11am-2:30). Then he brings up "i should be there for my benifit, to learn what they're teaching" which i told him im not even learning anything because im taking courses that are so simple id be able to teach the classes if i wanted. (Algebra 2, Geometry, Earth science etc) I also said "you're battling logic here and acting just like my foster-father, there is absolutely no reason why i should show up at school today"

So he says he just got off the phone with the school and told them about the appointment and they said they would count me (bullshit). I say "oh so you looked up a number none of us knew, found the extention and talked to them all in less than 7 minutes?" which of course he said yes cuz he didn't realize i was being sarcastic and knew he was lieing his 50 yr old ass off... he deserves ice cream smashed in and around his eyes cuz he's a lieing fifty year old man, they did NOT say id be counted.

I give up at this point and wait for his iminent arrival, he gets to the house while im getting ready for the 10:30 doctors appointment and vultures over me while im getting ready, which disturbs the hell out of me cuz i hate being watched like that. I tell him,."Ive tried talking to you logically, im not going to school. if you think you can make me be my guest." If i was going to be counted id have no problem with going, but i was just getting ready for the doctors appointment and thats it. So i let my mom handle him, cuz she realizes im right ( i hope... thats sorta why i made the thread) and he leaves pissed... just like my foster dad would. Hell of a morning wouldn't you say? Well this is a typical Shikamaru day for me

Im sure ive lost everyone at this point so the morale of this story, i like toast


























but seriously now, was i right? was he ACTUALLY trying to battle logic in this case? or was i dead wrong... or perhaps.. was the story too long....

Er..how long was the doctor's appointment? Couldn't you just go back to school afterwards and have it count as not an absense? I know in my highschool that's how it worked anyway.

There's also the benifit of going to your teachers before class starts and telling them you've got to leave early so they can tell you what you're going to miss, give you handouts or whatever you might get that day, homework you might recieve, ect. plus you can hand in any assignments due today.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have went to school either. Hell, I'd ditch school even when I didn't have anything better to do. But their request wasn't unreasonable. I definitely wouldn't say it was illogical, even if the reasoning they used might have been a bit off.

Also, not a morning person, eh? ; )

I have learned one thing shikamaru, no matter how hard you try there are some people who just refuse to see logic. I think it's because they're afraid of losing the fantasies that give them a feeling of controle in life. just my theory.

Well, they do have a point. You should go for your benefit, you can say the classes are ridiculously easy, but 7 times out of 10, kids just use that as an excuse. Like miburo said, you could have gone back to school

Now, I would not have gone to school, mainly because I am pretty sure some douche bag kept you up on skype until 5:30, meaning, if you passed o right then, you'd have gotten and hour and a half of sleep.

well, i'm not in high school anymore but i would of just gone to get what i missed that day and gone home. In college you can pretty much not show up and still pass the class with the exception of english class. you cant miss more that 6 days or you fail...wtf. o_0

well yeh im not stupid, i ended up going today anyways for 1 and a half hours.... and got counted absent *sighs* what a pain

But yeh i was going to get my work anyways, i finished it ALL last period (even the work they had for me from yesterday when i didn't go) cuz i have biology by myself, i go to a different room and teach myself. instead i just did it all then, and turned it in. even got 30 minutes of sleep in

You're what, 14? Your "world" is not common sense and logic. You also need to learn some friggen respect for your mother. (Either that or your mom needs to take control.) If she tells you to do something, you do it. Fighting her gets nowhere and is nothing more than angst filled disrespect.

If you disagree with her or you know that the school will count you absent no matter what, then how about you tell her that without biting her head off? Or would that be too difficult?

And how is it impossible for him to 411 a number and talk to the principal in lonly about 10 minutes? Then you just assume he's lying because you obviously hate him and have a grudge against him.

Then you pull the biggest BS of all and say "make me." Boy, be happy that I'm not your dad. You'd get the ass beating of your life. You were not right. first off theres a reason your not a dad, that post is EXACTLY why, two id kick your ass let alone let you put your hands on me. Three i was right full-cirlce i went to school and they hadn't even talked to him. Three they even SAID i shouldn't have come. Four She's not even my real mom, i will go so far as to say she is a horrible parent and needs alot of correction ive been self-raised ever since i was able to walk thats just a fact im not saying it out of disrespect for her. Parents aren't all-mighty overlords who are always right, they're people they make mistakes too. Get over yourself you have absolutely NO idea what you go around posting in this forum.
