i think the problem ist so much that were threatend but how much,we dont need to worry that much about it,i doubt they have what they need to attack us,the only threats are north korea and iran as far as i can see alkida(spelld wrong) is pretty much powerlees to attack us via nuclear warfare

Not necessarily. The war didn't start with Bush. It started way before then. The war with Iraq has been going on much longer than I think you know. Not just since September 11th, but way before then, but perhaps less publicized/not a "hot" war.

I thought that this article I saw would be an interesting contribution to this thread:



It provides a different viewpoint on the "threat to America", as well as the military. I feel that it makes a few good points, but overall the articles has a concept that I don't believe in.

Anyway, on topic:

America will always be threatened. We have one of the most powerful militaries in the world, and we are a recognized super power, alongside Russia, Japan, and I believe a few others. Should we simply show even an inkling of vulnerability, we would be exploited. Anti-Americanism is on the rise, and I don't think that those countries pitted against us would hesitate to invade us should we show weakness.

With all the nuclear weapons currently out there in the hands of people that want to use them to kill millions of people, I'm not sure that any country in the world is safe. I mean, if a nuclear bomb went off in a place highly populated in the United States, such as New York City, the entire city would fade into oblivion in the blink of an eye, people, houses, cars, everything would burn, millions upon millions would die.

Now here's where the real problem begins. We have no choice but to Nuke back, and then their allies would rush to their defense and attack the United States, the allies of the united states are Nuking the allies of the country that launched the missile. That much nuclear activity over a short period of time could have irreversable consequences for the world's climate, radiation could become a widespread cause of death in countries we're not even intending to attack, and the entire world would be at risk.

The world as it is today is unstable, that's all there is to it. We have enough nuclear weapons to destroy the world many times over, and pretty soon there will be NO WAY to remove all of them, more will be produced and even smaller countries could obtain their own nuclear arsenals. So yes, the United States is at a lot of risk right now.

It's all about trusting that other countries aren't lying when they say they don't have any WMP's. A nuclear weapon is a major shift in military power, the USA is in a very difficult position on the issue having used them already in a war. There is always a threat, being divided doesn't help anything...

Ok here's the deal Bush Sr got us into this war with iraq during "Desert Storm" It's just now ending with his devil spawn. If we even joke about nuking WW3 willl break out. So yea we are pretty much screwed.

Also the longer we stay in iraq the more we piss of north korea.

A friend of mine made a movie in 2006-jan 2007 it went through how the media in the united states acieved a higher income then any other timeand most of it was government money, the movie is called "Weapons of Mass Distraction" its supposed to be in the "Toronto Film Festival" this year. but as an example of the difference is that here in Canada we are shown the facts for at the most 2 days then the story is off to a family in hickville, but whenever i see american news they seem to go over everything that has happened over the past 5 years from 9/11 to suicide bombers in Iraq.

It is a very dangerous situation that i feel will cause the american government to collapse. oh and i can tell you right now that bin laden is still un accounted for and where are the american troops there, there are 0, none, zip... no a single American soldier that is not attached with the Canadians are in afganistan and the bush administration passed the "pull the troops" stratagy and no where in it does it say anything about bin laden. and it pisses me off that this time next year I will be in afganistan doing what the americans couldnt do.

not to long ago the north koreans had 100 or so nuclear war heads pointed at major cities in north america. And said if they were inveded even an inch they would not hesitate to launch them.
