FFXII [Strategy] Discussion Thread
Okay this thread isn't like the other Final Fantasy thread, its for those currently playing the game or for those who seek knowledge in the future.
Basically, you post character Strategy's (Equipments, Gambit Set Ups and License Board Set Ups). With all of that said... let me begin.
This game sure does take its sweet ass time, by the time I felt comfortable with the Gamble & License Board systems I just felt like starting the game all over again. There is a reason as of to why Balancing your characters out isn't going to be effective, and I would've known this sooner if the game got down to the point from the start :P Of course its too late for that, im already like 20hrs into it.
Anyways, I have come to a realization. While attempting to make my characters "Gilgamesh Clones" (meaning - giving them all diffrent armors & weapons) to come to a balance conclusion... I realized this method is just going to take too damn long and will require alot of leveling up. Especially since every normal fiend in the game gives you 1LP (donno if the number is greater later on).
I basically realized that each and every one of my characters could've already excelled in specific job types. I was playing this the same way I had played Final Fantasy V, and that is really just a big mistake. So here is how my Team set up is going to be...
Vann- (Ninja Sword, Sword)
Basch- (Sword, Axe)
Ashe- (Weapons: Crossbow, Sword)
Balthier- (Gun, Sword)
Penelo (Weapons: Dagger, Bow & Arrow)
Fran- (Spear, Katana, Bow & Arrow)
Of course, somewhere along the way im going to have to slightly break that rule in order to obtain remaining Quickening's and Espers that may be in the opposite direction of which those characters are heading. I learned my lesson by the time I had reached Garuda and I only had one Archer while Basch had a Quickening, and all I kept doing with Vann was casting Magic Spells since Garuda was out of reach.
I guess you can say that at the start of the game I was under "Typical Final Fantasy" syndrome where I thought my characters could become bad ass no matter what I did. Appearantly thats not the case, the case was more literal "How fast can I improve my characters and make them efficient". They have to be well organized and maintained. I've also learned to keep my eye on my money... Its hard as fuck to make money even if you sell loot the shit you purchase almost makes it seem pointless.
Also, since money is a problem. I was thinking about buying atleast 2 of every Efficient weapon, and when switching party members i'll unequip the weapons from the people that are being replaced.
What confuses me is the Armor... I remember Scale Armor costs 1000 Gil while Ringmail costs 700 but yet they both provided the same amount of protection.
