In Japanese Buddhism, jikininki (Japanese: 食尸鬼, "man-eating ghosts") are the spirits of greedy, selfish or impious individuals who are cursed after death to seek out and eat human corpses(Or perhaps in Kakuzu's case, maybe he just uses parts of corpses to modify his body). They do this at night, scavenging for newly dead bodies and food offerings left for the dead. They sometimes also loot the corpses they eat for valuables, which they use to bribe local officials to leave them in peace. Nevertheless, jikininki lament their condition and hate their repugnant cravings for dead human flesh.

Often, jikininki are said to look like decomposing cadavers, perhaps with a few inhuman features such as sharp claws or glowing eyes. They are a horrifying sight, and any mortal who views one finds himself frozen in fear. However, several stories give them the ability to magically disguise themselves as normal human beings and even to lead normal "lives" by day.

I think he is suggesting that Kakuzus character was influenced by these Jikininki. So hes powers might be something similar to that.

nice, like the theory, good find. It seems like most in aka are dead puppets or some weird lookin freaks. I cant put it past AL to add a man-eating ghosts on the team, lol

We dont know anything about him, but its going to be hard to live with that attack.

I hope he isn't dead. When I read it with my sister, I came up with a theory as well. Since Kakuzu has manuipulated several body parts, such as his arms, maybe he rearranged his internal body parts as well. If that is the case, then Kakashi probably hit Kakuzu's appendix instead!

Ignore my theory, it's all farce. I would seriously laugh my but off if I was right. I like EARTH STYLE's theory, though. Let's cross our fingers!

i like ur theory better than eath styles coz if he was a corpse eatting ghost thing, it would make little sense that he sells dead bodies as a bounty hunter... wouldnt he instead eat the bodies and use them for himself than sell them..

Well remember that Aka needs some money, so im sure he can hold off on the bodies that will bring in money.

yea there is a FC. and i believe that he is still alive. why? because we havent seem enough of him battling yet. now i see why hidan and kazuku are partnered up. there combo is deadly. much better than the combo of itachi/kisame and sasori/diedara. kazuku isnt dead for another part that we havent seen what he can do and if he dies this easily to some dude with one real eye then he wouldnt be in akatsuki.

Yeah, Kakuzu can't be dead! He hasn't collect the bounty on Asuma yet! I bet that he would drag his dying body all the way to Konoha, just to get that money.
