Haha, that wasn't directed at you ACT.

Re: What book are you currently reading?

I'm an Atheist and I've read most of the Left Behind books. The faith part fell on deaf ears but I enjoyed reading about the people left behind in the Rapture and survivng the signs of the Apocalypse while fighting againt Carpathia as the Anti-Christ. For a religion based series it was well written.

Heh. Well, first off, Atheist =/= anti-Christian. I'm not. I'm not even truly anti-religion. I am against segments of it that are out-dated, ignorant, sexist, racist, brainwashing and backward, and I am completely for the separation of all religion from matters of state, but I accept there are positive forces in people of faith that should be encouraged.

As for the series, I know nothing about it. I do not believe there is anything written that people should not read (I've read 75% or so of the Bible - freaken psalms - and have considered the Quran to see what the fuss is about). But if you let such works brainwash you and make you into some of the strange freaks who promote and demand that you believe such nonsense, then we have a problem.

But I know you are better than that from comments on your faith. So, all power to you.

Haha, again I know your not anti-Christian but many members are. And yeah, some/most Christians are assholes.

Re: What book are you currently reading?

Yeah, I am an anti-Christian, as well as an atheist. Left Behind sucks, putting its crazy "Destroyer Jesus" views aside.

To be honest, anyone who gets mad because you read something horrible needs to relax. Now, getting mad that such a book exists, that is a different question. Getting mad at the fact that Left Behind sells more copies than books that way better, that is also a different question. If they are concerned with you and your reading schedule, then either they are a best friend who feels the way to your enlightenment is by forcing you into it, or they are just trying to push their agenda down your throat.

I personally don't like any of the "series" books because you get through the series knowing some story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, but there really isn't much to think about, nor is there a particular writing style to examine. Yes, they write with different styles, but they aren't as distinct as some of the classics. The books aren't bad, it is just that there are other books which upon reading will be a better use of my time.

My only complaint right now is Sanderson's sense of direction in the first chapter. Rand was walking towards Camelyn, only to show up in the complete opposite direction. He was coming down from the Dragonmount and heading towards Camelyn, only to show up at the Tower, which is the opposite direction according to the map in the front of the book.

I think it would be indifferent in which direction he is walking. Gateways. But essentially your right, and I think that chapter was only to establish Rands new state of mind etc. How far are you in ToM? I am contemplating a reread or listening to the audiobook.

I know with Gateways now the point is moot, but Sanderson had him walking to Camelyn in an effort to raise spirits with his ta'veren "charm" to alert the world of the Last Battle looming.

I just got done with Mat's first part in the book, where he fought the gholam (no mentioning of the dice though, which I thought was odd) and then the Aes Sedai decided to take their leave to go back to Tar Valon. I just started the chapter after that with Perrin prepping to meet with the Whitecloaks.
