I think he would die if the kyubi were to be taken out. Shikaku's chakra is nothing compared to the nine-tails, so unlike Gara, Naruto's body might not be able to handle the stress.

Interesting inputs. I think that Naruto, if he survived when the Kyuubi was taken out, would be sick all the time.
