Seeing as how the admins on the Rising Sun forum deleted my thread discussing their problems with us, I figured I'll have to remake it here... Where it can be free of being closed without any kind of warning.


For those of you who do not know, there are a number of people on the Rising Sun forum that dislike NL and the members here. I believe the claims are as follows:

A) Mods+ are too harsh in their rulings. People get banned for every little things.

B) Mods+ are all biased jerks who just let their friends flame and anyone who questions them gets banned.

C) This is a forum filled with worthless Narutards.

D) This place sucks because it doesn't offer anything good.



I'd like to refute these claims and talk through the problems. I'd like this thread to remain anger and flame free. Please, do not take cheap shots. Do not insult. Let's have a nice discussion. Anyone who cannot do so will be asked/forced to leave this thread. All of the normal rules still apply for this thread, so there WILL be infractions / warnings for anyone who breaks the rules.

If you have nothing to add, then do not post. If you have a problem with what someone has said, then PM me instead of letting it build into a flame war. I'd prefer for only the guilty to be punished.


Problem A: The rules and how we governed the site WAS a little harsh earlier in the year. However, with the change to the new vB style and a little bit of tweaking, things are much nicer. A point infraction system has been started and newbies to the site are not harshly punished (unless they break a big rule like flaming / illegal things / porn). Heck, even people who flame are only gone for about a week. I do not think it is fair to say that things are not just here any longer.

Problem B: Yes, there has been some biased activity in the past. ...And recently there was a bit of a scuffle with some obnoxious posts. However, they have all been nipped in the bud. Any kind of partiseanship is eliminated if it is detected. If you think that something unfair happened, you can petition a smod. If a smod did it, you can petition an admin. If an admin did it, you can petition Shino or Tom.

Problem C: This is a forum created for the site Naruto Central. It is, essentially, a Naruto forum. The average age of a person that watches Naruto is around 13 or so... And that also happens to be the average age of posters here. Most of them are between 12 and 16. If you dislike any "unintelligent" conversation, then you can go to the MANY other fora that we offer. Multiple other areas on this site are for more intelligent discussions on a wide range of topics. NL is what you make it.

Problem D: Actually, we offer a lot of good things here. We provide manga chapter scans for a number of animes as SOON as they come out... We have a great area to discuss all kinds of theories and thoughts about loads of animes. We have a Computer section that has some actual computer techs to help with any problems. We offer help in academics, gaming, graphic design, languages, and a number of other areas. NL has a fairly neat Debate program running in the Debate forum. We also have general discussions on a variety of topics.

Yeah, many forums have all these things and more. We're not saying that we are better than any other forum. However, NL is a nice area too. It's a fun community that provides people with a way to relax and unload a little.

Lol I used to think the rules were to strict until I read them and then I was like oh you cant flame thats why I got banned

This site is a win in my book thats why I come cause there is lots to do, theres only a few people who can rude at times(myself included ) but thats like any forum lol but overall it his forum is all great.

and I have not seen any Mods/SMods/Admins never do there job or be like really unfair but then again life aint fair regardless so take that as you will (<3 OTC & Lily <3)

What's wrong with being able to curse? If you're really young and your parents get mad about cursing, then it's not exactly hard to prevent your parents from seeing these things. A few rough words never hurt anyone. We have a rule to shelter people from racism, which should be enough. Dropping the f bomb every once in a while has never hurt anyone.


People only get banned for one of a few reasons: They're a bot here to spam NL. They grossly break the rules (flaming / illegal stuff / porn). They don't seem to understand what spam is and is not. (A spam infraction is only about 2 points... And it takes 10 points to be banned. A spam infraction also expires in about a week, so if you get three infractions for spamming {and you REALLY gotta do something obviously spammy to get one}, you're still around... Learn from your mistake. A few days later, you spam two more times and you'll be banned only for a few days until at least one of your previous infractions disappears.) It's actually fairly hard to get banned here now. You have to KNOW that what you are doing is wrong. (I mean, what forum actually ALLOWS flaming?)



Mods aren't being biased. They're enforcing the rules whenever they spot them. If you find someone else breaking a rule and you're pissed that they aren't getting punished, it is easy enough to report it. It'll be taken care of. I may make a post in a thread without reading all of the others and just totally miss someone's flame comment. It happens all of the time. We try our best to catch everything illegal and to be as fair as possible.

If anything, NL is really lax on people recently. Several times, certain members have grossly broken the rules and have been temp banned... When they really should have been perma banned for the number of times they've broken them. However, we keep letting them back in for a second chance. I can name three people right off the top of my head.

im sorry if i made the problem worse....but i did what i had to do.....

what a lot of people dont know is that the mods are just doing there job...people take it out on u guys when its really there fault if they get banned for it well i guess u shouldnt have posted it......thats what makes me most mad.....the made a thread about why do u hate NL lounge and the answer was because the mods where to strick but u go and look at what they ban people for and if the kept them on the forum and not punishing them then this thread would go down the drain.......so thank u mods for making this forum the place it is

Mods here aren't too strict, I think they do just fine at their jobs. They're social, they don't let the power get to there heads, and all of them are reasonable. They don't Infractionize people when they lose a debate, and they don't flame people who don't deserve it.

Yeah I'm from Rising sun anime and I'm a Smod, so you're Lance2daface? I don't know who deleted your thread but I actually wanted it to stay open so we can talk about this in a civil way, but this will do fine.

I totally agree with this because things were really harsh, and I felt like I was being treated unfairly. I got banned for 2 weeks on my first offense for PM advertising or whatever that is. Before I even did that I read to rules very carefully so I wouldn't break the rules and no where in the rules did it state that there was no PM advertising, it only says to advertise you have to have at least 150 posts which I did.

In another forum it says no PM advertising in the rules and since this forum's rules didn't state that, I went ahead and did it. I told Shino that I didn't know that there was no PM advertising but he said so what that just because it's not in the rules doesn't mean I can't get banned for it and they even closed my advertising thread.

Right now I don't have any problems with the forum I think it's great I love the new look but other people still have their reasons why they don't like this site.

I wish I could give you the link to rising sun but I might get an infraction or banned again for it.

Hehe, i knew this would pop up again. Sucks i missed the last two times people from RS were flaming here...wish someone would've saved me a screenie or something T.T ...

Anyway, i think NL changed for the better awhile back. It's much better now then before. Theres some bad apples on every forum, and if people let that get to them it just makes them resent the forum but people should be able to ignore users that do stuff they shouldn't because eventually, it will come back at them.

Also...i heard moderators eat bad apples for breakfast O.o ... no wonder they all have shiny white teeth .

I just ignore users i don't like until they're gone. Works wonders.

I heard there was this one thread...where a mod was flaming someone because someone they knew died, or something like that, and you should make a LN forum xD.

Since this thread is basically advertising RS... i don't see how letting you in on the secret would be a bad idea... it's an anime fan site and some members there have beef with NL. As for me... i forgot why i don't like RS .

And most forums have rules like NL, the reason you think it's more strict here is because the moderators are actually active. It's a rare sight these days .

I think I know which thread you're talking about, but I don't remember any flamming from a mod. And if I did make an LN forum, it would have no members.

Gee, thank you Kites and Jaxon for making EXACTLY THE POSTS I TOLD YOU NOT TO DO. God forbid you actually contribute to a discussion focused toward making peace. Maybe I DON'T want to start a rivalry and a bullshit flame war? Maybe this thread's purpose is to get RS to NOT hate us anymore? Thanks for perpetuating the stereotype that they believe we have. Don't post in this thread anymore.



Edit: Advertising is more like making threads / posts and spam PMing people about links to websites / other threads. That kind of stuff is annoying and we try to cut down on it.


Anyhoo, I just want to know what the other reasons are for people still disliking NL. Is it because of personal hatred for certain members / mods?

And I can't say the mods aren't over-jealous about enforcing the "peace" on NL, since Shino banned me for 10 days for a comment that was meant to be joking, but since text removes emotion, that's understandable.

For C and D...... I say check yourself first before comment about others....
