2 Border Patrol Agents are going to prison, Is it Right?

I don't know how many of you have heard of this story or not. Here are some links to some stories on them.

These were the only articles I found. These two border patrol guys are going to prison for 11 and 12 years respectively. I encourage you guys to read both articles in full if you can. This is something everyone in America needs to know about. I will wait for some responses before I give specifics on how I feel, though it should be clear that I consider this to be one of the sickest things I have ever seen or heard about. If it generates enough interest, I will pass on a link that will allow you to digitally sign a petition that is going to be presented to the President in person asking for a pardon for these guys.

...this sounds so much like a chain letter it's not even funny. Actually I've heard about this and I don't think what happened to them was right or anything BUT I will not sign some digitally thing that probably will never reach the president o.O

lol I dont mean for it to sound like a chain letter. :-( I hate those things. I am just trying to do what I can to help these guys. The president of the website with the petition was on Fox News talking with a representative or congressman who was going to take this petition directly to the president. They had this big interview with the president of this website on the news and he was talking about all of this. If it doesn't get to the president, well, at least I tried. :-/

as you can see, Bush isn't one of my favoritist people in the world right now so I wouldn't trust him with this kind of decision even if well....he's an idiot plain and simple. And as for this, I doubt anyones really gonna sign it people are to selfish and lazy to read or watch the news..oh sure they'll think about doing something but won't really do anything to help o.O

But all kidding aside:

This is total BS (not the story, the situation). I mean, the border patrol could've shot the guy in the back or the neck, right? Getting shot in the butt isn't that bad. And even if they shot the man in the back and the man lived, 11-12 years is way too much time. >.>

You're going to tell me that there's a policy not to chase people who are bringing illegal drugs into our country!? And what is with a ruling about not being able to shoot someone in the back!? They're running away, isn't that a reason to shoot? I don't mean shoot to kill, but maybe slow down?
Why bother having a border patrol? Why not just put a big sign up that says illegal immigrants and drugs welcome!
Next time, maybe the patrol officers should just serve come coffee and doughnuts or something.

hahah that is exactly what the two agents are saying. One of the agents asked the judge," DO you want us to catch people or not?"

As far as I know, these are the policies:

1) A border patrol agent is not allowed to pursue anyone without radio-ing in and obtaining permission or clearance to pursue.

2) A border patrol agent is not allowed to fire his weapon unless the "enemy" is ACTIVELY firing at them. He can't shoot unless bullets are firing at him.

The one thign that I don't get is not turning in a report that they had shots fired?! O_O
Now that is something that i've heard of. you're supposed to go and file a report everytime you shoot off a round and take responsibility for every bullet fired. That's the one thing I can see happening.

But to not be able to pursue? It just seems kind of off kitler there. O_o

that was stupid,they are supposed to stop illegals and drug runners thats what they did,they had to shoot them to stop them you cant punish someone for doing there job

Anyways I think they should put out signs along the border saying "Any unauthorized personel beyond this point will be shot" just like the ones around Area 51.
