Is downloading the Japanese episodes of Naruto illegal, or legal? Give me facts, not opinions. Thanks.

downloading anything is illegal unless it was meant to be free, which japanese eps of anything isn't. (:

The Japanese subbed episodes are legal until the English dubs it on their American TV's. It becomes an illegal download afterwards.

So the Eng dub is at what episode, 75-ish? Any Japanese sub episode 75 or below would be considered illegal. Anything beyond should be fine.

Not to say that you'd be fine anyway, there is so much downloading traffic that no one cares about getting caught. It doesn't matter all too much.

Thanks for the responses. I only asked because I assumed downloading the Japanese episodes were legal. Completely, not just to some extent. At another forum, I made a thread about how all 220 episodes were corrupted. I thought maybe it was an issue of the DVDs they were burned on, or whatever, so I asked for some technical support. Which I got. I then commented on how much of a pain it'd be to redownload all 220 episodes again. That's when someone commented about that being illegal. It's pretty much why I asked you guys. Who better to ask?

Well, here in Hawaii almost all 200-somethin episodes are avaliable for purchase on DVD.
Also, the english dub might've dubbed more than just 80 episodes. They could've already liscensed up to 100 for all we know, and are just waiting to air it.
