But, Goku was always known for training quite a bit. Why would it be bad that he have extra powers, and stuff?

It's how he became a Super Saiyan that I thought was gay (and maybe Kishi thought so as well). Think about it... During that period in time, all of Goku's best attacks were unsuccessful against Frieza (he had absolutely nothing to fall back on). All of a sudden, Krillen dies and Goku now receives a new power that puts him just high enough in strength to put Frieza on the shelf.

LOL. Yeah, and it did take the WHOLE EPISODE for him to turn SSJ. Maybe he thought "skrew this!" and left to watch something else?

But it does seem there are some similarities with Naruto and DBZ. Naruto's blond, Goku's SSJ blond, Sasuke has black hair, Vegeta has black hair... Wait, no. Maybe the similarities end there .
