look, he says " my power...etc.etc." as a way of introducing himself, how the hell else is he supposed to do it. oh and good call shadow moon, kakashi gaiden was simply a filler to shut everyone up as to how kakshi got his sharingan, cuz' i'm sure ppl were bitchin' and moanin' about that too. obito is dead,(sob,sob) let him rest in peace, bastards. making tobi, obito and linking madara to both of them would make me seriously question kishi's creativity. that would be taking a step back in the manga. it won't do the story any good, ok so it gives kakashi somemore limelight, if it/he is revealed as obito, someone pls explain to me how that would make for good reading. i gaurentee to you guys would be like, omg this is so boring when are we gonna see naruto fight, or when are we gonna see sasukes beautifully sculpted body and tight...ahem excuse, sorry. wow, i guess all i'm saying is i'm getting tired of ppl coming back from the dead. that's too easy. huh, that was easier than i thought.

The only thing that is being really overlooked is that tobi could be neither obito or madara and have just transplanted obito's other good eye before he actually died from the crushing.. (Assuming his eye remained intact etc...)
Uchiha Madara's power could be a more evolved MS, it could be something altogether different (aka the bijuu were created how? maybe the fact that the fox says Madara has a more sinister chakra than his own meant he knew a jutsu or created a jutsu to actually create a bijuu or something)... A couple of ideas (childish I guess) but it's always something to think about

I dont think Tobi is Obito.. I simply dont see why... Why would he change his name?? Theres no reason I can see..

In the Akatsuki there only one from Konoha, that we know of, right.. Itachi.. Itachi must be at least 6 to 7 years younger than Obito, right... He might have known Obito off course.. But the way we know Itachi's personality, I doubt he even knows the name Obito...

So why wouldnt he know him?? Well Obito wasnt known to be the most talented Uchiha, right.. Cant picture Itachi "hangin' out" with Obito. Due to Itachi's personality.. And besides if I remember right he only knew kakashi by name. Well during the their encounters one might think, if Itachi knew Obito and knew the story behind Kakashi's sharingan, Itachi might he mentioned it..

Besides due to late Obito's talent, Im pretty sure that Obito isnt a bedtime story or tale for the young Uchihas... And I dont think the Uchihas in general think took a liking in an Un-Uchiha having the Sharingan.. So I doubt that Obito's name is famous within the Uchiha Clan...

So if a nobody like a Obito, not wearing a headband, joining the Akatsuki, I dont see Itachi thinking "Hmm.. That name.. Hmm.." and then saying "Hey you.. I know you..." And then bla bla bla..

But If, I mean IF Itachi knew Obito, why should he give a rat's ass about him... I dont think Itachi gives a shit about anyone else in Akatsuki... Well he might like Kisame.. But I doubt that too...

So all Im asking why change his bloody name.. Nobody outside of the Akatsuki knows Tobi... And those who ppl in Konoha who knew him thinks he dead..

I think everybody knows who Kakashi got his Sharingan from. That's probably the first thing every ninja ask about when they find out Kakashi has the Sharingan.

As for why he changed his name there could be a million reasons. We just don't know yet.

It seems very likely that Tobi at least has the body of Obito. The name, the mask over the one eye, connection to Zetsu, the big secrets, it's all too much of a coincidence. I'm sure there's a reason why there was a reason for Kakashi gaiden as well, where we were introduced to Obito.

i would love that tobi was uchiha madara,since he is one of my favourite characters.On the other hand this ruins his image so far,i prefer him goofing around than giving orders and being serious.It ruins his style...

Im not so sure everybody in Konoha knows the story of how Kakashi got his sharingan... Kakashi's generation and older ppl might know it, but anyone younger.. I doubt it...

Millions of reasons to change his name?? (which means that you thinks its Obito, right)... I cant find single one... Please tell just a few of those millions of reasons why he would change his name...

The point of Kakashi's Gaiden was mainly in point of view to explain how Kakashi got his Sharingan, and learn bit about his youth..

Oh come on. It's perfectly reasonable to think that everybody knows. Word gets around one might think, especially when someone not of Uchiha blood gets the Sharingan! You're just being difficult, as many other people here.

One reason to change his name: To not be recognized. There's only supposed to be two (or three) living Uchiha's left. Whatever he's up to, he OBVIOUSLY wants to keep it a secret. Also, he's supposed to be dead. Oh, and he's doing undercover work in Akatsuki, perhaps they'd react if his name was Obito, we don't really know.

We don't actually know if Obito is evil. We don't know his goals or motives yet damnit, so stop making conclusions.

Well how the hell could Tobi be Madara. Just because he said "My Power, Uchiha Madara's power" doesn't mean he is Madara. He's talking about the sharingans power, the MS. Most people have probably already said this, but I wanted to reiterate it. And how the hell would Madara live for such a long time. If he has that power, I'm sure he would have another eye.
Yeah it's a posibility Obito would be Tobi. But who are the other possible candidates with a sharingan?

We've seen immortality, he could very well be Madara too. Also, some people are saying the translation is wrong, that he's really saying "Me, Uchiha Madara's power".

We'll just have to wait and see, but people need to be a bit more open I think. It's really annoying when people are claiming that the Tobi=Obito theory is impossible.

How can you be so sure he's talking just about the Sharingans power? At this point, most of everything going on in this thread are assumptions, some of which are reasonable ones, some of which are basically people in denial. I say this again, just as you say that all he meant was the power of the Sharingan: he could have just mentioned that he has the power of the Sharingan, or the Uchiha's/Uchiha clan. He didn't need to specify that he has Madara's power. Why would he mention that specifically instead of something much more common? It's a reasonable assumption that Tobi is a new alias for Obito. Tobi = Obito's physical body, with Madara's soul and powers.
