exactly my point. It's not right to shove religion down someone's throats or say that they are going to go to hell unless they convert when they are about to go under the knife, especially when they are your MOTHER. I thought you were supposed to HONOR your mother and father, not threaten them with eternal damnation!

instead of saying "non-believer" can you say non-Christian? "non-believer" is only one short step away from "infidel". I know that most don't, but most of the Evangelicals I know do (the ones who can't even have a short phone conversation without putting the words God or Jesus in there). It may or may not be true, but I just don't have a good experience with them. My experience is that (at least in schools) monks and priests/rev.s don't shove religion on you. Religion TEACHERS do. And I would know. I went to an abbey school, am going to the boys school attached to the Washington National Cathedral, and have gone to a small catholic private school with no actual priests.

dirk, I wasn't shoving anything down anyone's throat. Not at all. Of course I realize it works both ways. Of course, a little debating never hurt anyone, but that hasn't been my intention or doing since posting in this thread.

god no. (pun intended). Don't start a debate. I KNOW that's where this is headed and with religion, the outcome is almost never good unless you are very VERY careful, which even I am not that good at being. Religion is a sensitive topic.

that really does pretty much sum it up for us but im sure Jesus means something different to everyone else. anyway, the Jesus the jews talk about is the same Jesus that christians talk about cept we believe that he came, is God's son , died on the cross for our sins, then resurrected three days latr.

They aren't unpleasent, they are simply defending themselves, and on the topic of some Christians shoving religion into people, yes that may appear to be happening, when really they are grieving for you because they want you to DESPERATELY be saved! I hate seeing constantly, and everyday my friends who are not saved, and I pray constantly for them. Luckily at my church, we are starting a new series called 'Just Walk Across The Room' which is sopposed to be able to get us more confident in evangelism (big word, i know) so i am super excited!!! i just wish that those friends would ask about Christianity...and not have to ask them
